County commission meeting is going on right now...monitoring to see when it gets taken up...what they are deciding today is basically allowing the mayor or a designate (decided by him) to negotiate and come to a deal with the ball club. A deal will not be announced today...

October 16, 200718 yr The Marlins issue was just passed by the commissioners. If I understood what was going on correctly, all they did today was allow the county to identify the funds available and negotiate a proposal to be voted on by the commissioners. Not sure how long that will take...maybe someone with more knowledge of this can answer that. Hopefully we'll hear something in the next few weeks.
October 17, 200718 yr CBS4 mentioned the story tonight with the headline "Marlins get 50 million for Stadium" then the reporter said more things need to be done etc etc typical crap. Then they spoke about people stealing the orange bowl chairs and getting arrested.

Being a Marlins fan since I was 5 in '93, optimism on the stadium issue isn't something I dish out over headlines. Believe it if you must, but don't cry when all longtime fans say, "I told you so."

October 19, 200718 yr I'm not even going to be optimistic if the Marlins have the damn thing built and play games in it. Knowing this team, they will decide that it is structurally defective and needs to be ripped down, thereby sending them back to Dolphin Stadium.
