.....if Girardi is hired by the Yanks, he would have left the Marlins for that job ? I'm thinking his contract had an out to go to the Yanks & Cubs IIRC.

I don't think you get an "out" clause to go to another team if you are a manager in the major leagues

He had a little smirk there during the post game comments

I would too if I had secured my families monetary fortune for the next two generations. :D

Not a bad career path for Girardi at all. One season in Florida, wins manager of the year, has a year off and then gets offered the job by the most well known team in the world. It'll be interesting to see how he does.

there's no way Girardi had an out clause

absolutely none

Not that Loria wouldn't have have let him out anyway.

I'd be surprised if the Yanks finished ahead of the Devil Rays next year.

Everyone finishes ahead of the D-Rays.

2004 was an abberation.

Wang-Joba-Kennedy-Hughes are 4 great young arms in the rotation and you know the hitting is going to be there.

No reason to think that the Yanks will not be in contention next season.

Is this the Yankee board? JK. Girardi takes the job but no A Rod, Posada, Rivera, Pettitte. The yanks need to get younger anyway, but it different in NY than here. Girardi will need to be quite a bit different if he thinks the Steinbrenner boys will just let him do whatever he wants.

You dont have to actively in game manage in the AL, so Girardi can be successful. Plus he has a payroll behind him that can make any team successful. Hell, they made Joe Torre successful, and that in and of itself is an amazing feat considering Torre was for all intents and purposes clueless when it came to in game managing.

True :lol ...he was "clueless Joe" before he managed the Yankees. I remember the NY media bashed him and the Yankees unmercifully when he was hired.

Honestly?

With the Girardi hiring I think it means Posada, Pettite & Rivera are back. Posada was groomed by Girardi, he was Pettite's (personal) catcher and Rivera and he worked together. I think they make a play for Lowell at 3rd, with A-Rod gone.

It's not like he cares, that will only leave him the forums of his other 9 favorite baseball teams.

I agree, even Joe Girardi with the loss of Posada, Petitte & A-Rod (an a few others) will still beat down Toronto, Baltimore & Tampa Bay. That's why I feel better about being where we are. We have proven we can win even with big bully money teams like the Mets & Phillies to compete against. Meanwhile you know before each and every season, you will NEVER have a chance as an AL East team if you aren't the Yankees or Red Sox. Sad but true....and I think eventually will be to baseball's dismay & misfortune. Whole markets are being lost because no one cares there anymore. Look at what has happened to attendance (and I mean REAL attendance at those places. I have MLB Extra Innings and see a lot of the games on the Marlins off nights at other places.....in the AL East, unless its the Yankees or Red Sox no one goes to the games.
