Marlins sign Doug Waechter

Featured Replies

Without going through the last 25 posts,do we really need to know more than they signed him to a minor league contract?

This is just another Miller/Obermueller/Grardner/fillintheblank more or less career minor leaguer signed in hopes they can catch llightning in a bottle for a season or part thereof.

Hot stove league stuff, I guess some are looking for something else to refresh other than the 1,853 and growing postings to the Miguel thread. Although this really is stretching it.

Waechter actually isn't a bad pick up for a minor league contract. At one point he led the league in leaving the game with a lead and getting a no decision. Although it was in A ball, he looked good at the end of last season with his rehab. He should do well in a pitcher friendly stadium and away from being in his home town and the distractions that go with that.

Phones ringing off the hooks at the Marlin ticket office and the internet is slow from online season ticket purchases. Oops, it's only Bronco Bob seeing if he can move from row 1 to the warning track.

Bob, just kidding, I like you, really-eventually we will have that beer.

I don't even like the warning track idea. How would my beer guy get to me??

If he can leave a game w/ a lead this year every time he goes out, we should be in good shape. Love our bullpen.

He will NOT be part of our bullpen.

Look at the dominant pen.

1st Olsen

2nd Mitre

3rd A Miller

4th RVH

5th Nolasco

CL : Gregg

Lefty : Tank, Pinto

Setup : Lindstrom, Kensing, J Miller, K-Mart

Long relief : Gardner

Maybe he could take K-mart' job, I think... but, It's useless.

I have penciled him in as our number 2 starter

i lol'd.

and then i got sad because you're probably right.

I lol'd a lot for this comment

I love when people gent bent out of shape by minor league deals.

It's understandable considering anyone we sign to a minor league deal with major league experience will probably get called up in May. Also, that rotation Bret posted is freaking hilarious.
