And keep Cody's bat in the lineup in LF. STill, if Maybin is not ready, then where are we? I guess a not ready Maybin is better than a De Aza

Yup, didn't consider that, just considering on field matters, but this is the Marlins and we have to think of things others do not-yuk

How about we trade Gregg for Josh Barfield and Ben Francisco, get Jorge Cantu in FA for cheap, and D'Antona in the rule V. This wouldn't be mind blowing.

I know this would scare the crap out of people if we actually fielded this, but it wouldn't be that bad. It would be pretty flexible giving us some options. It would let Maybin hang out in Carolina for awhile, and hopefully one of Barfield/Cantu/Francisco/D'Antona would turn into a useful player for down the road. They all have their positives, even with obvious flaws, and all sre worthy of taking a look at wiith some playing time in a non-contending 2008.

barring a really quick comeback, he is out all of 08 with TJ surgery

Put Hanley at 3B. They talked about it happening eventually when he was in the Red Sox farm system, and the only reason we never discussed it was Cabrera. He has the best arm (and bat) to man 3B. And hopefully being in that corner will minimize the number of missteps from what he was doing at SS.

 

Amezaga or Andino can play SS (unless/until something better comes along) and either one might well be a defensive upgrade anyway. Leave Uggla at 2B.

would anyone really want to put hanley at third with one of the top 3 position player prospects playing there. it's like saying hanley you will be gone when dominguez is MLB ready if not sooner

If he can somehow learn to play 3rd quickly enough, I would prefer him to any of the other candidates. Anything to get another bat in the lineup.
