October 23, 200322 yr With Juan going 2/3 vs Wells in NY and Lowell going 0/3...do you put Cabrera back at 3rd, Juan in RF and bench Lowell? Mike is hitting .100 this series so far......
October 23, 200322 yr normally i'd say it'll never happen, but Jack has certainly shown he's not afraid to make the move... I don't think it's a terrible idea really. Mike's looked lost up there the past few games. Now 2 or 3 games doesn't count as a slump, & I'm not sure of their stats vs lefty pitchers, etc, etc, etc.... But I doubt you'll see a move made. Encarnacion will be back in the lineup anyway when the Series shifts back to the AL on Saturday.
October 23, 200322 yr Both Mike and Enc have been struggling in the postseason. But Enc doesn't have the power to knock in runs like Mike does. If it weren't for Mike in the NLCS, I don't know if we'd even be here.
October 23, 200322 yr No. Lowell has earned being in the line-up. Period. so has enc Juan hasn't been here for the years of losing, nor did he have the season Lowell did. Mike deserves it more, and I don't think swaping the two in the order would make a difference, anyhow.
October 23, 200322 yr I don't know about this deserve stuff...who's gonna help us most now? Of course, the question only matter for one more game. If it were me I'd lean towards making the move, putting Enc in. He's hit Wells pretty well over his career (though, not as well as he's hit Pettite and Mussina). Lowell looks out of it.
October 23, 200322 yr Lowell looks out of it. Did you see the pitch he managed to hit for a single last night? I don't know how anybody can even make contact on that, none the less get a hit with it.
October 23, 200322 yr i want the player(s) that will give us the best chance to win tonight. frankly i dont GAF what happened in the regular season. I want a win tonight....
October 23, 200322 yr No, it's a case of misleading stats. His two hits were both bloopers, and not representative of good ABs. You don't take Lowell because Encarnacion lucked in a couple of hits. If Encarnacion hits the ball hard twice, and Lowell doesn't, then you might consider it.
October 23, 200322 yr Juan hasn't been here for the years of losing.... yeah, there's a good argument....
October 23, 200322 yr Juan hasn't been here for the years of losing.... yeah, there's a good argument.... gotta love it.
October 23, 200322 yr Juan hasn't been here for the years of losing.... yeah, there's a good argument.... Would you leave Mike Redmond off the playoff roster for Ramon Castro? No. Why? Because he deserves to be on it. NOT because he is a better player.
October 23, 200322 yr good heavens man, another terrible example. forget it. this has been beaten to death already.
October 23, 200322 yr Alright, this "deserve" stuff is killing the argument here. Lowell should be in because he can hit with power, and quite frankly, that's something our lineup could use right now.
October 23, 200322 yr good heavens man, another terrible example. How so, because if you can think of a better example, go right ahead.
October 23, 200322 yr Alright, this "deserve" stuff is killing the argument here. Lowell should be in because he can hit with power, and quite frankly, that's something our lineup could use right now. Juan can hit for power as well. Look, my official stance on this is that Carcy probably won't do any better than Lowell is doing right now. So, you keep Lowell in the order because: A) What he has the ability to do. B) You don't change what works.
October 23, 200322 yr An example of what?? You're the one trying to make the point. sigh.... Redmond wouldn't get benched for Castro because he is the backup catcher. That's not rocket science man... The reason Encarnacion is sitting on the bench is NOT because he hasn't "suffered" through as many losing years as Lowell. That's possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
October 23, 200322 yr Redmond wouldn't get benched for Castro because he is the backup catcher. That's not rocket science man... But who is the better player? Whose the bigger threat? Same point goes for Lowell/Encarnacion.
October 25, 200322 yr Redmond wouldn't get benched for Castro because he is the backup catcher.? That's not rocket science man... But who is the better player? Whose the bigger threat? Same point goes for Lowell/Encarnacion. Obviously they think Redmond is, or Castro would be on the roster. There is absolutely no consideration given to "who deserves it" because they've been there. None at all, not a second of consideration. This isn't Little League, it's the freakin world series.
October 25, 200322 yr what the difference, we are goin to have an extra spot due to the dh. so they both can play. (sigh)
October 25, 200322 yr what the difference, we are goin to have an extra spot due to the dh. so they both can play. (sigh) obviously this thread was intended for the games in South Fla
October 25, 200322 yr Both Have been Struggling. I would keep Mike Lowell there and you will see how he will start to produce. We are winning like this so lets keep it like this.
