Or am i the only one who hasnt gotten over Miguel Cabrera yet, he was my favorite player from the day he was called up and the marlins will never see him in there jerseys again.

I'm still not over losing Josh Beckett, but what can you do?

The best thing to do is just pretend he is on vacation or something. Think about Maybin and Miller.

I got over it already. Probably because I've been preparing myself for it since 2006. Also, I thought it was a good trade for the fish to make. We got Maybin and Miller. Plus, I never thought Miggie would be here past 2009. He never expressed that "I would love to stay in Miami" attitude that Dontrelle did and Hanley does. I would be more hurt to lose Hanley than I was when we lost Miggie.

 

That said, it did take a bit for me to get over it. I had to take down my Miggie and Dontrelle figurines cause I got sad when I looked at them.

I'm gonna miss Dontrelle a lot more (and not necessarily for the way he played).

Dontrelle seemed to really embrace the town and his role as the mentor for the younger pitchers. It'll feel strange not seeing him in the dugout.

I agree. I'll miss them both, but I'm going to miss Dontrelle more.

Not at all to suggest that Dontrelle is a more valuable player than Cabs.....of course not.

Just in the vein that in the end this is a GAME, and it's supposed to bring the fan enjoyment. Be fun.

As a fan of the Marlins, I realize that we're not going to be playoff competitive in the foreseeable future, with or without Cabs and/or Dontrelle.

I've grown used to the Marlins fire-sales. There's a long list of players I miss.

But just in the interest of adding enthusiasm, fun, and enjoyment.....Dontrelle is missed the most.

Cabs projects to be a superstar(if he can stay away from the off-the-field stuff). Monetarilly, it was unrealistic to expect a revenue challenged team to hold a player who's soon going to command 25M+ a year.

But Dontrelle projects to be a #2-3 starter, getting 10-12M a year. He didn't have to go. The bottom line is that it's just saving Loria money, at the loss of a truly unique player with strong community ties.

I wish them both the best.

They will both retire Marlins. Once their careers start to tail off, they will once again wear teal, and be the first two Marlins to have their jerseys retired.

I get the MLB package and will be able to watch most of their games.

 

I've pretty much adopted them as my favorite AL team now...being that theres numerous Marlins connections on that team spanning from the front office, to the manager, to the players.

 

Dombrowski, Leyland, Cabrera, Willis, Pudge, Renteria, Sheffield, Todd Jones.

 

Am I missing anyone?

Couldnt agree more... the past is the past.... Dtrain and Cabs thanks for the memories... Thinking about the great time was for the offseason... new season new players.... I wont think about them again
