March 6, 200818 yr Left shoulder tendentious. On no throw for 2-3 days. Thompson will get the start tomorrow. Reported by Dave on the broadcast.
March 6, 200818 yr Why can't our pitchers just take growth hormone like the rest of the league. Either that or the medical staff needs to quit babying these boys.
March 6, 200818 yr less than 2 weeks into Spring Training and guys are already getting beat up....not good. Hopefully this won't extend past the projected 2 or 3 days because I'm getting sick of hearing about these "minor" injuries.
March 6, 200818 yr Its Spring Training, relax. A lot of players visit the hospital from playing baseball after sitting on the couch for 5 straight months. We should continuing hearing this report for about a month. Just saying that the Marlins are not the only one getting hit with injuries, happen every year for most teams.
March 6, 200818 yr Wanted to see Olsen pitch but at least I'll get my first look on Aaron Thompson when I go to the game today.
March 6, 200818 yr That's not as bad as it could be! Best to get the injuries out of the way early. Wish injuries were like taking a test, get it out of the way early and it's done. Too bad, there is no rule that if you get injured in ST, you "get it out of the way" and that's it. Injuries linger, it is not better to have them early. Please.
March 6, 200818 yr Lost in this seems to be the outstanding work of Nolasco and Vanden Hurk yesterday. And we don't know (because the press is to lazy to find out any details) how significant this setback is. Is it just a little soreness or inflammation, or did something pop or some other telltale sign emerge we aren't privy to.

And we don't know (because the press is to lazy to find out any details) how significant this setback is. Is it just a little soreness or inflammation, or did something pop or some other telltale sign emerge we aren't privy to. with some of these setbacks to Olsen and Mitre, could very well see both Nolasco and Vanden Hurk in the rotation to start the season. Although it's been mentioned that the team won't really require a 5th starter for a couple of weeks so maybe it won't come to that.
March 6, 200818 yr I have no problem with either Nolasco or Vanden Hurk in the starting rotation, or both, if they continue to pitch well this spring and have shown they ought to be there regardless of who else is available, who is injured, or anything other than merit. I've long been a believer in Nolasco and his virtually unhittable curveball. If he and that pitch come back to major league standards he should be in the starting five. And if Vandy learned from his mistakes last season and is ready to start every fifth day, a rotation of Miller, Hendrickson, Nolasco, Vanden Hurk and Olsen or Mitre, or someone else, works for me. I'm not tied to any player having to be part of the rotation. There's even been talk of moving Pinto into a starting role which might actually make sorting out the bullpen seven a bit easier. And it's not inconceivable that one of the youngsters get an opportunity. Frankly to some extent that's what 2008 is about, building for the future.
