Pitching Rotation Set

Featured Replies

Surprised I haven't seen a thread on this yet. The Sun-Sentinel had a story up in the late morning:

1. Hendrickson

2. Rick VandenHurk

3. Andrew Miller

4. Olsen

Ricky Nolasco will start in long relief, then get bumped up to the rotation when they need a fifth starter, scheduled to be April 13th against Houston. Chris Volstad will start the season in the minors, likely AA. Doug Waechter and Joe Nelson will be with the team until after the Yankees games, then will head to AAA.

I saw this but was too lazy to post it. I'm not surprised. We are going with the little experience we have. We should see Volstad, Gaby Hernandez and Badenhop in September though.

If Volstad has a nice outing against they yanks, he'll be coming up when the 5th starter is needed.

Why?? Nolasco has pitched well this spring. No reason to rush Volstad.

Our rotation hasn't been this bad in quite some time.

Might be the worst we've ever had.

ast years wasn't that great either. i think its better this time around.

Last year's was the result of the wear and tear of the season taking down some of our best guys. We had a lot to look forward to on opening day. I don't think I've seen a team open the season with a starting rotation this bad since....ever. It's really that bad.

I don't think it can be wose than last year's.

Last year started just fine, until the injuries came around andn started to show on everyone. But we were just fine the first or second turn through the rotation. At least this time we'll deal with this from the get go, not deluding ourselves about who will be pitching this year.

I hope we dont ruin Vanden Hurk

Kranitz isn't the pitching coach anymore, so no need to assume the worst again.

That isn't the problem.

He's not ready. He needs a 3rd pitch. If he has to be on the club, it should be in a bullpen role and not as a starter.

Hendrickson better not try to dunk it. This is probably the best we can do. We have a tough start playing the Mets, but give these guys some time, trust Freddi, and we'll see.

Hopefully the return of Anibel and Mitre in June will make things look a little less ugly.

Never thought I would see the day that Hendrickson was an opening day starter....

Mitre isnt back until June? Wow, were getting killed with injuries. It gives an opportunity for other guys to prove themselves though.
