MarlinsMS_35
As much as we believed that this could happen, we are all shocked by this. Our slogan is "Building for the Future", and that was voted on. If we had to re-do it, it would probably be somethign like "Searching for Respect". We expected this to be a building year, and then we do this. We still get no respect even though as of now we are the best team in baseball.
LordMagnus
Good fans root for their team to win every game. Bad fans expect their team to win every game. I think Marlins fans tend to be more grounded in reality than some other fan bases. I read the Mets or Phillies message board and fans there act like they have some god given right to a winning baseball team. They show no respect to other teams. Its like they think the Mets or Phillies just have to show up and they automatically win. Well it turns out that the guys on the other teams are also paid to win baseball games. And they say its only a matter of time before we are in last place again. Give me a break! I root for the Marlins to beat the Nationals, but I don't expect a sweep of them, because they are a major league baseball club. Give proper respect to the opponent. And yeah, sometimes we need to give our own guys a break or two. I've been guilty of it several times, with quick rush to judgment. But I think there is something to be said for the media and fan pressure of places like New York or Philadelphia. Players don't LIKE being booed, and they don't enjoy playing for malcontent fans. I realize the Marlins don't get good attendance, but I think there's something to be said for the lack of pressure and the lack of hype they receive and how they are able to play the game. I think every fan should have to experience that so they can truly appreciate having a good team, even if the team only finished .

Even this offseason, sure they were pumped about Santana but they were all griping about something.

canada-marlin24
here is the thing......all of those mets and phillies idiots that call themselves fans know nothing about baseball. All they do is expect their team to sign 100 million dollar free agents and when someone is better than them they cant take it. Yeah sorry for them but i dont recall any of those teams winning a world series recently.....let alone two.

All they can do is insult the fan base. I didnt read one comment their, aside from two people praising us, that was valid at all i.e. we are a last place team. Â I for one dont really care if ESPN doesnt show our highlights, or what idiots from other forums say...this team can flat out play. When Hammer and Jake get back, I will take our lineup against any team in the east. What is so special about Philly aside from Utley and Rollins, and maybe Howard with his .171 average? Their bullpen is as good as ours sure, but what makes them so much better than us? How about the Mets, with Wright and Beltran. Reyes is a step below Rollins and Hanley, and they have no pitching outside of Santana. Why cant this Marlin team compete with these other so called power houses of the East? Â Let me tell you...this team is not going anywhere. We are young, talented, and will only get better over the course of the season. I fully expect them to hit a rut just like every other team in the league does, but we will show everyone what type of team we have. If I was Phillies or a Met fan, DAMN right I would be scared of this team. Right, we are a last place team who happens to be a half a game out of having the BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL! Im not insulting the fans of the game, who can look beyond the hatred of a rival, its more torwards the ignorant ones that want to makes claims and judgements off of something irrelevant. IMO...Hanley is the best player in the East, arguably the best in the NL. But since he plays in the lowly Florida, he wont get the respect from most in the northeast. Its the same with the Panthers here. They had Luongo, who was considered a great goalie, but none thought of him as one of the top two or three in the league because he played in South Florida. We see that now with Bouwmeester as well. I just find it real funny how people judge this team aside from looking at the talent on this team and watching them perform on the field. And you know what, its going to bite them all in the ass when the time comes, and maybe then this team will gain the respect it deserves.
