The last two times he has caught Ricky Nolasco: 14.2 IP, 2 ER

The last two times Treanor has caught Nolasco: 13.1 IP, 9 ER

Despite his offensive shortcomings, does anyone else think he should be Ricky's personal catcher?

I really don't think it has to do with the backstop as much as it does the fact that Ricky's stuff is as good as its ever been. When you can get that 12-6 knee buckler over all night, that fastball becomes one of the best in baseball. I'm real excited with the rotation we've got right now, as long as Hendrickson can get back on board and Tucker can give us a few more starts like that first one.

Rableo has caught Ricky four times.

The other two starts:

9.2IP, 10.21 ERA, 2.165 WHIP.

Even in those two outings, from what I remember, he called him well. I don't necessarily think he's an overall good defensive catcher or game caller at all but he has done well with Nolasco this year.

It could also very well be that Noly has been that damn good that he's just making him look like a genius. But even if that's the case, teaming him with Nolasco right now seems like a good opportunity to get him some playing time and showcase him a bit as I don't think he has much of a future with us.

Of course, Beinfest may disagree. If I could ask him one question right now, it'd be what the f*** has John Baker done wrong?

You know our catchers suck when we are discussing this.

Why would that be?

Because they don't accomplish anything on offense and on defense the only thing we can talk about is how well another player pitches when they catch.

There's a difference between a guy like Nolasco who, most likely, has complete control over what pitches he wants to throw, and a guy like Tucker who is just throwing whatever the catcher tells him to.

Any backing to that statement about Nolasco? Or are you just pulling that out?
