  1. God prefers certain athletes over others, like Tim Tebow Then why couldn't he help him with his passing? As far as I'm concerned, "Saint Timmy" is right where he needs to be. Any place BUT Denver. God's testing him
  2. I'm not a believer of any sort. And I would much rather hear Bell just say he has been sucking, he can't locate his offspeed pitches and it is causing him to suck giant testicles, rather than say that God is testing him. That being said, when some people encounter challenges, they have the right to be religious about it. Whether it's God testing him, or just the psychology of the game/contract/being away from his family/physical issue, I'm happy that he's staying positive and seeing it as a challenge he has to overcome. What does piss me off is when he said he had bad luck. That's bullsh-t. (I've also heard him say he's sucks and he's garbage, so you know, quotes don't always mean anything.)
  3. A ballgams can be an expensive venture. Families all over the US are hurting. I think people forget that. Not to be condescending or anything, but you really can't use your personal anecdotal evidence to suggest that miami isn't in pain because of the economy. We are still experiencing an alarming rate of foreclosures, and it could be that speculators are taking advantage of the low prices in this economy to buy land. They don't have to be floridian to buy.
  4. Here were my concerns: 1. This park played BIG. I hope it just seemed like that today. 2. Boni looked TERRIBLE swinging in the 2 spot (one game, but I've always been skeptical of his ability to be consistent with the bat) 3. LoMo looked hurt. I'm guessing he really wanted to play opening day and that's why he said he was fine, but I can't imagine running around this early in the season is going to help him heal. (i'd like to see coghlan get some at bats too) otherwise, everything else looked good. Fish had some pretty well smoked hits that went straight to outfielders within the first 5 innings, so I think the no-hit through 5 was just badluck. Also, i'm sure the pressure of opening day in the new park was making all the players want to do too much. I'm glad they'll be away for a little bit, to get into a groove.
  5. Important local business owners are smarter than the average Miamian. That's why they're important, rich, and successful. No idea why anyone would have a problem with him saying that when he's speaking directly to them, unless you're ignorant and overly sensitive. There are plenty of intelligent non-business owning poor people.
  6. Don't you have to reach base first before you can run? Hopefully the marlins will finally have a player that lay down a bunt.
  7. you always ALWAYS listen... I'm just shocked the Sox asked... I mean... what was the thought process there was... "Whoops... looks like we messed up on that one..." I agree, you must listen. But seriously, for a player who is considered the best young player to build a franchise around signed to 6 years at a steal, the Red Sox would have to be willing to deplete all their resources. What a hail mary on the red sox' part.
  8. So either kevin gregg sucks and he's making excuses, which to be fair, he hasn't really made excuses for himself before, or he's mediocre and he played through an injury at the expense of the marlins. Either way, freddi is an a hole for using him after he consistently sucked balls, and kevin gregg might be an a hole for playing through an injury. Bottom line, he needs to be removed from closer, maybe when he heals he can be a middle relief guy.
  9. I say from the beginning, Tommy Hutton is not afraid to speak his mind, his partner is the total opposite, i don't know if it is the new yorker in me, i go to games and see players mess up, and the fans seems like they are not allow to boo, i would bet, if Gregg come into the game today he will be applause, we have a manager who #1 line is, "The guys are trying their best, tomorrow is another day." We the fans make to much excues for the players, if they do good applause them, if they mess up let them have it, no excues. I was at the game and all of us were booing the crap out of gregg. it's no longer acceptable.
  10. I'm boycotting the marlins until freddi gonzales removes gregg as our closer. I'm not a fare weather fan, but I'm not going to waste my time rooting for a team that cares more about sticking a currently horrible pitcher on the mound in the 9th, than about winning. When anyone else has horrible streaks, they don't get to pitch. When pinto was sucking, he wasn't used as the setup man anywhere near as often as he was in the beginning. Why is gregg special? because he's our "closer?" Closers in the mlb are given way too much leeway.

  12. That's why Tucker, Thompson, Sinkbiel, Trahern, Vanden Hurk, and Cruz are in AA/AAA, and we have tons of RP everywhere Vanden Hurk is bad.
  13. Kevin Gregg is AWFUL, it's only fair that freddi lets someone else try to close next time, demote gregg to relief. The point of the game is not to follow a formula every 9th inning, it's to win. If batters are slumping, they get benched, why not the same for closers.
  14. *Waits for mods to shut this down* haha, maybe, but at least i got to read it before they do.
  15. http://insider.espn.go.com/fantasy/basebal...clipboard080825 I wanted to read this article, or just see what he says about our rotation, but i'm not an insider. I figured someone here could help out.
  16. Does anyone know what actually caused the trade not to go through. I heard on the radio that Loria was asking for 2 million dollars more in cash and the Red Sox weren't willing to budge since they are already paying the rest of Mannys salary. Does anyone know if theres any truth to that. I find it hard to believe that Loria wouldn't pull the trigger on Manny for 2 freaking million dollars. From what the front office has said, it seems they were afraid of disturbing the team chemistry. makes sense. Chemistry could break down if you lose a player from a young team that feels united by the fact that they are under appreciated nationally, and then get a completely goofball player that seems cancerous to any clubhouse. Especially considering the problems this clubhouse had with discipline last year (Cabrera?). the 2 million was probably a way to get out of it without seeming to have wasted the sox's time
  17. Ok, here's a few things. Manny Ramirez is a significant force on any team, and could have easily provided a VERY significant boost in the race for the NL east, even if it cost some defense. And further more, Manny makes sense in the marlins, considering this will be his last 2 months before being a free agent, so he'll be more motivated to produce big numbers. Also considering that for all the slugging the marlins may already have, what they lack is reliable bat they can depend on to send base runners home without a HR (not counting cantu). However, the fact is, for a 2 month rental, Ramirez really isnt worth that many prospects, and he alone isn't the solution for the marlins. and it seems the team is starting to score runs without hitting the ball 350+ ft. What we really needed was a catcher. and can someone please take jacobs! cantu at 1st and mcpherson at 3rd is clearly a better solution. Jacobs needs to learn that there's a glove at the end of his hand if he wants to continue to play on this team, not to mention how to have consistent at bats. I don't get why people say this about Manny going to Miami so he can try to get a big contract. If Manny indeed wanted that 100 mil contract that he wants, why would he be doing the things hes doing in Boston right now? If Manny was all about the money, why would he take 6 seconds to go up the first base line? Why would he be making himself look like a bad teammate with saying the RedSox don't deserve him? I know Manny isn't the brightest guy in the world, but hes making himself look very unattractive to teams right now. If this is what he does whens hes in his contract year, Id hate to see what he does during a normal year. You're right manny isn't that smart. But now that he has what he wants, manny doesn't need to be intelligent, because Scott Boras has enough greed and brains for the both of them, and now that he knows for a fact that mannys options for next year wont be picked up, he has more motivation to really force manny to grow up.

  19. Whatever's working, I don't care if Rick TPs peoples houses pre-game, if it makes him pitch like he did, go for it hahaha, genius.
  20. Hey!! Wait a minute!! Marlin Fan Base Excuse #45,001... "I don't go to games so I won't miss the Amezega Mexican League play on TV." I finally got an original excuse!!! It's just a bad joke. where's that amezega video anyhow?
  21. I wouldn't be complaining. The game was won, there was no reason to cause him to pitch 20 more pitches than he's ever done before to log a complete game that we were winning by 7 runs. He does have an extra off day, but i still think 132 pitches is unwarranted. On the other hand, i'm sure fredi (and definitely ricky) just wanted to log a complete game for the team and the fans, and it would have been nice.
  22. Why all the Cabrera hate. He was a home grown Marlin with amazing talents, and he wanted to stay here.
