April 5, 201214 yr Yeah, had a great time myself. Definitely would have been awesome to get a win, but it's all good. Saw a couple of friends, was nice, yes sir. Also - JJ's velocity was down. Doesn't he usually hit 96/97? He was topping out 94 today.
April 5, 201214 yr Ozzie used the bench/bullpen well. Other than that, Reyes had a pretty decent game.
April 5, 201214 yr The boards going slow as crap or not loading. Sucks the game ended this way. Atleast we weren't no hit or shut out. Hope we hand I to Cincinnati tommorow.
April 5, 201214 yr Also - JJ's velocity was down. Doesn't he usually hit 96/97? He was topping out 94 today. Max velocity was 95.4. He averaged 92.8 on the fastball. He averaged 94 last season and 94.7 in 2010. We'll see what happens over the next couple of starts.
April 5, 201214 yr Ozzie used the bench/bullpen well. Other than that, Reyes had a pretty decent game. Does Webb over his career give up a bunch of hits compared to others? I have been wondering that. It almost seems like he always gets hit more then other relievers.
April 5, 201214 yr I want to die. Not quite but it is a huge let down. So many years of yearning and then finally anticipating this day and it was almost a complete nightmare.....

April 5, 201214 yr Didn't he hit a 100 with one of his last pitches in one game last year. Yeah, in Cincinnati, he hit 100 on his final pitch.

He would hit it, but just as often as he would hit below 94. A drop from 94-94.7 to 92.8 is significant if sustained, but I'm guessing he's still stretching out.

The radar gun in Cinci picked it up at 100. It may have already been ramped up for Chapman, who came in the top half of the next inning.

Pitch F/X (the most reliable) has him topping off at 95.7 in that game. I don't think that the ballpark radar gun is tied into Pitch F/X.
April 5, 201214 yr Hopefully JJ gets back to his usual self soon. Reyes had a solid Marlins debut. Overall I think Hanley looked damn good at 3B. Ashame his bat wasn't working tonight. Does the batter's eye/outfield fence remind anyone else of a green screen? Would be awesome if they could project some kind of images onto it during breaks in the game or right after a Marlins win.
April 5, 201214 yr Also I must say, I was a tad upset that there were no YES chants tonight, but we never really got a chance to break it out. Ah well.
April 5, 201214 yr I was at the game. It was excruciating to watch in person. My issue with JJ (and the organization) is his dismissive attitude toward the blister on his finger when his nail digs in to his skin when he throws his slider. This will be an issue. Also, Boni did not perform well in the 2-hole both times Reyes got on base. There was a play in which Hanley didn't know whether he should field a grounder or defer to Reyes, and it went through for a base hit. I wanted to die. But this is just heaven. I want to live here:
April 5, 201214 yr The Hanley/Reyes incident was god awful. You should have seen the video of Ozzie's reaction.
April 5, 201214 yr The Hanley/Reyes incident was god awful. You should have seen the video of Ozzie's reaction. Must have been a priceless expression, especially after Ozzie spent the last six weeks praising Hanley on his third base transition.
April 5, 201214 yr Barring injuries, I couldn't have imagined this going much worse. Every bad tendency of this ballclub in recent years showed up tonight in front of America.
April 5, 201214 yr It could have been a perfect game or no-hitter for Kyle Lohse. That would be the worst.
April 5, 201214 yr Barring injuries, I couldn't have imagined this going much worse. Every bad tendency of this ballclub in recent years showed up tonight in front of America. Josh Johnson not pitching that well is not a bad tendency we've seen over the years. Being no-hit for six innings is not a bad tendency we've seen over the years. You pessimisticly overreacting seems to be a tendency, though. The story of this game was that Josh Johnson pitched more like Kyle Lohse and Kyle Lohse pitched more like Josh Johnson. Fluky things happen over the course of one game. Hence the reason why they play 162.
