Nolasco *ding* (Post Game Thread 6/15)

Featured Replies

Nolasco, Miller, and Olsen have become pretty steady I just want to settle the last two spots (hopes for Tucker and JJ)

Ricky looked spectacular this afternoon. Only one walk and 12 K's. Just a great performance. Ah, so close to a complete game. Oh well, still a nice win. :thumbup

he threw a complete game...the idiot umpire just squeezed him out of one.

great game by ricky and i love how he uses the slider and changeup now. Also i dont get why the last run was earned if hanley made and error.

it wasent, he gave up 3 runs 2 earned.

It felt like Joe Girardi was managing that game there in the 9th inning. Nolasco had no business going out there for the 9th inning.

Phils just lost. :arms

Isn't it great. The Mets might lose two today :) .

they might but now they're tied 2-2, and we'r 3 games behind the phillies WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was very skeptical of Nolasco early in the year and voiced that on here, but I'm glad he's changed my mind. He's never going to be an ace but he has shown over the first portion of this season that there is no doubt he is a major league quality starter.

I was at the game (also at friday night's) and it was a fun series to watch, even though we only got one out of three.

it was better game of series Ricky Nolasco did very good he try best to have CG and hitting came back with two long ball it was best well game of series now we go to west coast

He was awesome, but there was no reason to leave him in for over 130 pitches.

He exceeded his career high by 20 pitches.. 132 vs 112.

Fredi does some strange things with the starters. He shouild have taken him out after the 8th.

Wow didn't notice that he got 12 K's very impressive stuff by Ricky. I wanted him to get that complete game but there will be other chances for that. Helps save that bullpen for the series against the Mariners.

Ricky threw 132 pitches, that is a lot!

Ricky is a strong 5th starter

Was surprised to see him come out for the 9th. But then that inning just kept going and going. From where we were sitting it sure looked like he got squeezed on some calls. Poor excuse, IMO, but that's what it looked like from Sec 121, Row H. 132 is alot of pitches, but I didn't notice a drop in velocity, and the kid was zeroed in. Plus, he didn't look very tired starting that inning either. Probably because he was pitching in a climate controlled atmosphere. Something I believe is going unnoticed in this thread.

And be honest. How many of you complaining now would be complaining if Fredi hadn't brought him out for the 9th???

I wouldn't be complaining. The game was won, there was no reason to cause him to pitch 20 more pitches than he's ever done before to log a complete game that we were winning by 7 runs. He does have an extra off day, but i still think 132 pitches is unwarranted. On the other hand, i'm sure fredi (and definitely ricky) just wanted to log a complete game for the team and the fans, and it would have been nice.

How many 5th starters have a 12k game on their resume?

I'm guessing not many.

I like Ricky against agressive teams where he can get them swinging and missing at his breaking stuff. It will be a test in his next start vs the Patient A's.
