July 5, 200817 yr Yes sir. Heads dont necesarily need to start rolling, BUT we definately need to shake things up. Put gregg in middle relief, and make Nelson the closer.
July 5, 200817 yr When Olsen didn't come out for the sixth, the Marlins broke the major-league record for the most consecutive games without a complete game. Florida surpassed the Washington Nationals with their 262nd consecutive game without a pitcher going the distance.
July 5, 200817 yr i vote for waechter as the closer To be honest, I would rather have 3 innings of waechter in middle relief.
July 5, 200817 yr i vote for waechter as the closer To be honest, I would rather have 3 innings of waechter in middle relief. dude, Waechter is a beast on the mound!
July 5, 200817 yr Don't worry guys...if no moves get made...I'm gonna send Gregg to Albuquerque in my MLB 08 video game... SOMETHING has to be done! ...actually, now that I think about it...he blew a chunk of saves in my video game season and I put Justin Miller as my new closer for about a week... :mis2

SOMETHING has to be done! ...actually, now that I think about it...he blew a chunk of saves in my video game season and I put Justin Miller as my new closer for about a week... :mis2 Why Justin Miller? He's just as garbage as Gregg. I vote Nelson for closer. Waechter could do it, but I value him in middle relief. We need someone who can go two or three innings after Hendrickson, AMiller or Tucker melts down early in a game. SOS, JJ! SOS
July 5, 200817 yr why Justin Miller? Well if you really want my explanation...Kevin blew a ninth inning lead and the game went into extras in a road game and I was running out of relievers and ended up using Miller in like the 11th or 12th and he got the save. A few games later, Kevin went down with a minor day-to-day injury and I slid Justin into the closer's spot temporarily simply because he had that successful save earlier. He ended up going like 3-for-3 in save opportunities before Kevin returned and reclaimed his role...though I know I have "Miller Time" as a strong backup whenever Gregg scuffles... Then again, its just a video game and despite my club being pretty "realistic"...I do have a few exceptional stats like Logan Kensing having a 0.00 ERA all the way into July...Paul Hoover is hitting .500...Maybin is my CF...Willingham is my starting catcher (long story)...I had Jacque Jones hitting like .270-.280...Ricky Nolasco has completely bombed for me...and believe it or not, Mark Hendrickson is 10-4 with like 3 CGs and will probably be an All-Star! ...hmm, come to think of it...is there anyway to swap out my video game Marlins with the real life ones?
July 5, 200817 yr i vote for waechter as the closer He's a long reliever. Maybe we dont need labels or designations-JUST PEOPLE WHO CAN DO THE JOB-Waechter is a "long reliever" so don't use him? Well, how about this label-Gregg is a closer-LOL. Benched-just venting-not at you.
July 5, 200817 yr There were a ton of people here, I believe, in the off-season arguing that closer is not the most important position in the bullpen, so I'm surprised they're not out here decrying the thought of our best reliever, Doug Waechter, being used in that role.
July 5, 200817 yr i vote for waechter as the closer To be honest, I would rather have 3 innings of waechter in middle relief. That is what I said last night. I would've left Doug in for the final 3 innings.

That would've been me...and no, I don't want Waechter in that role. Waechter is a good middle reliever. The answer is Nelson, for now. Gregg would actually be a better option in middle relief, as well. It'll just look kinda funny having the highest paid player on the team, as a middle reliever...

To me, if he doesn't get the job done, I don't care where he goes. I know, you would say that the front office has strong influence on where Gregg goes because the investment they have in him, but at some point, how things benefit the team have to outweigh playing a guy somewhere because of his contract.

That would happen on any other MLB team, but not the Marlins. Its always about the $$$. Thank you Mr effing a-hole cheap-ass Loria. :banghead

Erick, you seem to misunderstand what an "OPINION" is, in his eyes its true.

Oh no it is true, or something would have been done to aquire a REAL free agent arm this off-season, instead of Mark Hendrickson. Give me a reason to believe otherwise. :confused

Why do you think Tom Gordon, for example, still gets chances in Philadelphia in the 8th inning? Happens everywhere. Baseball is a business, and that's just the way it works.
