Dont look to much into the win streak for the mets right now. They played the rockies and giants 5 out of those 8 games. this streak, while impressive, doesnt mean much.

Yes, that's a very good point too.

It means alot for Mets fans, they have pretty good pitching, then again like you said they played the Rockies and the Giants

5 straight games with 3 hits or less allowed though.

True, but we all know the endearment ESPN has for the Mets

We've won 6 of 7...BUT we've faced the Rockies, Padres, and Dodgers.

Btw, these same Rockies they're beating are the same Rockies that took 3 of 4 from us.

I hate defending them, but if you're gonna say that, might as well, look at it both ways...if not, you're not being totally fair.

Bottom line is, wins are wins. I love how people talk about SOS, yet our wins against these teams are just as important as they are when we're facing the tougher teams. If you can't beat the "weaker teams," you become one of the "weak" teams.

Both the Mets and Marlins are getting the job done this past week. There's no other way around it...

If the Marlins take care of their own business they will be where they want to be at the end of the year.

The same can be said for any team, take care of your own business first, worry about other teams second.

cody ross

Yea I was just thinking about Ross (dreaming of course) ... I think I am going to pick him for Beat The Streak tomorrow.

It is at 13 right now, I am being very careful I usually pick a different player everyday, although, I did pick J.J. Hardy twice but other then that its been all random.

It's alot of stuff, looking at the pitcher and how they do against righties or lefties, how they do during night games as opposed to day games, how the batter has done over the year against that pitcher and team, how the batter hits at home as to opposed to the road, average amount of at-bats the player will get according to his spot in the lineup, the quality of the opponents bullpen, etc etc etc.

but other then that its easy.

We owe this to the Dodgers after what they did to the Fish earlier in the year. Tomorrow they especially owe some payback to Billingsley after he destroyed the Fish last time.

The dodgers arent as bad as you think, we played the rockies in colorado, while the mets are playing them in shea stadium, and yea the padres are bad. and the marlins have proven they can beat good teams, while the mets have yet to prove that. So i still think the mets streak is a fluke.

Seems like alot of players from the Marlins live in L.A. or have family members there.

Anything that helps and Hanley is ok! so all is good.

Nolasco is player of the game for keeping the game very close and winnable. That's what a good pitcher does. He didn't do that when he struggled earlier this year and last year.

Cantu looks like steal of the year. He's also not made an error in a while now. That's what his big problem was earlier.

And the bullpen has looked much better since Colorado fiasco.

Enough can't be said about that. While a very few were showing PATIENCE with him at the start of the year because he was learning the position and said he should have the kinks worked out by the ASB, most others were down right nasty about him. Too bad it won't be a lesson learned.

Good win tonight. Now if only the Mets could stop winning.

And thank you Gregg for not blowing it.

He didn't just not blow it, he super saved it!

Just read a little on this. Gregg said he worked on his mechanics a bit. "I just did some mechanical changes in how I landed. My landing foot and how it was placed was corrected." He also just became the only Marlin closer since Todd Jones to record saves in 4 straight games.

I never have been a big Gregg fan. Doubt very much he is closing for us this time next year. But for alot of other posters that have been on his back....Get the Superman theme song ready once again.

Thank you, i always like to read your post because you speak the truth, you have to give jack his jacket, when we beat them our team is great, but when another team beat them, their are weak, we can't have it both ways.
