Sid Rosenberg on 790AM is a Whiner

Featured Replies

This whiner is going on and on about Tommy Hutton's comment last night. I personally found it funny when Tommy referred to the Mets fans leaving in the eighth as "front runners". Every other team is allowed biased announcers, but I guess as Marlins fans we are required to only have neutral or worse ones that root against us. I think is true colors are coming out. All season he has been saying that he supports both the Mets and Marlins which I really don't see how one can since we are in the same division.

Who cares what Sid Rosenberg has to say? Come to think of it, why should anyone care what Tommy Hutton said? It had zero effect on what happened on the field.....besides, it's a Marlins broadcast. If you want to hear pro-NY sentiment, listen to the Mets announcers.

My point exactly, Sid seems to forget Tommy is part of the MARLINS BROADCAST NETWORK. Now if the game is on ESPN, Fox, or TBS, then it should be unbiased just the facts play calling.

Sid seems to forget he's in South Florida and not New York. Maybe it's the drug flashbacks but you'd think the Mets were the local team some times with him. That said, I have to admit I think he does a great show.

Sid speaks out of the both sides of his mouth. He TRIES to be unbiased, but his biases always seep through in to his work. Unfortunately, he is the one sports announcer that truly covers ALOT of baseball in this town. Unfortunately for us, he is a New Yorker.

Most other sports announcers in this town solely focus on Football, so Sid is the only guy to turn to to listen to extended baseball talk. Hopefully, someone will eventually emerge LOCALLY to cover baseball as much as Sid RosenFART does.

Yep. But you know ESPN, FOX (or should I say SOX) and TBS are biased motherf***ers.

I pride Rich and Tommy on being fair and respectful, but T-Hut's comment was just glorious for that particular moment. You know it bothers him to always have the Mets fans take over DS. It was a great moment after Andino busted it open, with the herds of Met fans leaving and the awesome Marlins fans taunting them. T-Hut's comment was just icing on the cake for me.

well, as one of the interns, I stick by Sid despite his biases. He is a Marlins fan, and he puts a ton of effort into it, but when the Mets are in town...well, I feel his pain, because I will be a Marlins fan no matter where I move to, but I will also root for the local team.

As far as other local baseball talk, I can't speak for 560 or 640, but at 790 we have a lot of options.

Goldie goes to a ton of games, and he will talk baseball for an extended period.

Sedano--diehard Yankees fan, but he knows his baseball

Zaslow--baseball is his #2 sport

Dos Amigos--love baseball, in fact I believe that is thier #1

Josh Friedman--diehard baseball fan, and the direct beat reporter for the team, so he knows a lot of inside stuff

Craig Mish--one of the most knowledgable baseball people I know, I love working his show becuase it's just a dialague between two diehard baseball fans.

so, we do have a lot of baseball talk, just gotta dig around for it

All these guys may know baseball, but NONE of them cover it like Sid. I have a strange Love/Hate relationship w/ Sid. I actually stopped listening to him for a year b/c I couldn't stand him. But I've gone back simply b/c there is no one locally who covers baseball like he does. So I deal w/ his biases and try to push my feelings aside just to get the "Fix" b/c nobody else can give me what I'm looking for.

I swear that if I ever find someone who covers BASEBALL in this town like a BASEBALL Talk Show host should, I'd dump listening to Sid in a second.

Goldie - NEW YORK FAN, TOLERATES THE TEAM, DESPISES OWNERSHIP

Sedano--ANOTHER NEW YORK FAN, GO BACK TO THE BRONX AS SOON AS THE NEXT BUS LEAVES

Zaslow- I GIVE HIM CREDIT HE'S TRYING TO LEARN THE SPORT BUT HAS A LONG WAY TO GO

Dos Amigos--LOVE'EM, I EVEN FORGIVE THE GUY FROM NEW YORK, NO ON'ES PERFECT, GREAT!

Josh Friedman--CUBS FANS, CLOSET MARLINS HATER, LEST WE FORGET HIS COMMENTS EARLY IN THE SEASON

Craig Mish--SMART, KNOWLEDGABLE, SMARMY KNOW-IT-ALL, CRUCIFIED THE FISH THIS PAST WINTER, HE'S A BANDWAGON GUY, BETTER THAN MOST, SPEAKS POORLY OF SoFLA THAT HE'S ONE OF THE BEST.

Come on now, Sid is BY FAR, the biggest Marlins supporter of ANY regular radio host in this town. Period!!!!

Listen to him daily. He has weekly shows with Beinfest/Mike Hill, plus a different weekly show with Waltz/Hutton/VanHorne. He has Marlins on all the time. He even has the freakin' Mermaids on!!

He does nothing but talk positively about the Marlins, and how sick it makes him that no one supports such a great team.

Sid is not the enemy!!!!

I would agree Sid is by far the most pro-Marlin guy on the radio and does the most to promote the team, it just always bugs me everything he says is in the context of "but I'm a Mets fan". It's irksome that's all.

Sid HAS To support the Marlins. He works in South Florida for Christ Sake. His Livelyhood depends on it. Do you think he'd last a Day in his job otherwise? He is a smart guy. He knows what he has to do to make it here. But what I'm saying here is that South Florida should start looking for a South Floridian Talk Show host to do what Sid has been doing since getting here.

Now Sid may be EXACTLY what this area needs to finally fire up fans in this market to support their team. Heck, he gets me so mad sometimes I wanna go postal on NY Mutt fans. Heck, I called in on 790 yesterday b/c he amped me up w/ some of his comments. I went to the game to make some noise just to show that there are Marlin fans down here that wholeheartedly support their team. If it would have been anyother series, I would have saved my tickets for another weekend date. But since it was the MUTTS, I took the day off of work to support my team.

I love Sid and I hate him.

I like Sid and I like his show. I see nothing wrong with Tommys comment. The reason is because how many times have we heard other broadcasters from the other teams or national (espn. fox.) bash the Marlins fans. And making fun of the empty seats and making jokes left and right. The difference is they never say anything about Met fans and now that Tommy said something they can't take it!

Over at the Mets board, theyre all talking about Tommy. What kind of comments did he make? I was at the game, so couldnt watch the broadcast obvously

Tune into 790, that's where I heard it.

Which Mets board?

Tommy referred to them as "front running New York fans who are all heading for the exits". The exact quote just replayed was "Lookie Lookie the Mets fand are all goin home." I think it was funny.

It was hilarious. They deserve to be made fun of. As T-Hut was saying that, I saw some douche I know leaving all sad in his Mets gear. He had just e-mailed me abt going to the game and I told him that a.) I don't live there and b.) nothing pisses me off more than Mets fans at Marlins games, to which he had some snarky, unoriginal comeback about them outnumbering Marlins fans. I never liked that dude anyway, so I blocked him and then LMAO when I saw him leaving in the bottom of the 8th.
