Vote for the greatest Marlin in franchise history

Cabrera and then Hanley. Noone else should even be in the discussion.

When did you start watching the Marlins, 2003 or 2006?

1993. To compare Conine with the future hall of famers is ridiculous and I think Conine would say the same thing.

One future hall of famer that will go in with another cap on his head, and another that has played 2 and a half years for us and won nothing so far. You can't just look purely at statistics when measuring a player's impact on their ballclub, and tenure is definitely a factor as well.

Conine did more for this team then Cabs ever did and Hanley hasn't yet reached Conine Status.

Conine excelled in Charity, Community Relations, on the field, in the club house, in work ethic and with the media. Cab's couldnt do 3 of those things and Hanley hasn't proved himself in two of them. Conine was the face of the franchise for 5 years, and he still was when he came back in 2003. He's our Babe Ruth, without the HR's and Booze.

Hanley may be the greater marlin one day, but Cabs wasn't and never will be. He was lazy, greedy, argumentive. He only started to shed weight and shun the arroz con pollo when the Marlins were putting him on the block and he had a chance at a BIG PAYDAY with another team.

He's a selfish ****. Conine Never was.

I admit I do look at stats before looking at nosense. Look at the comment on Conine on the ESPN poll.. that says it all.

both are young, cannot say they are the best marlins EVER, Hanley has a few years to go before that and M-Cabs also not here long enough, guys like Castillo, Lowell, and Conine are ahead of Hanley and Cabrera right now

That is the type of attitude someone who never watched the Marlins would have, and why I'm not totally confident Conine will win the ESPN poll. Look at the poll here, see what the true fans think, and if you still disagree ask yourself if MAYBE there is more to it than that.

Does ESPN know about Conines Charitable work? Leadership in the dugout? The fact he has an amazing work ethic? ESPN bases EVERYTHING on stats and numbers. Heck, they mentioned Pudges and Manny's new jersey numbers on broadcasts. Hooray, ESPN looked up his wikipedia and put a mention of being a 2 time allstar but not 1994 ALL Star MVP and a leader on 2 WS winning teams.

Cabrera was a assclown and if I WAS man enough I'd slap him for being a lazy ****. :pray

Honestly Cabrera was our Manny in a way, only without nearly as many funny moments.

well he did have the intentional walk single and the Amezaga dances

Look at it this way, Conine was a Leader by example in the clubhouse. He came to work with his lunch pail everyday.

Cabrara came with a plate of emplanadas and hung out in the dugout or in the shade at 3b until it was his turn to hit.

Everybody knows that the greatest marlin ever is Paul Bako.

no way, Andy Fox without a doubt, Mike Mordecai and Mike Redmond get honorable mention though

Why the hell is Dontrelle a choice?

Maybe because the 4 years he spent with us he had 4 solid seasons. An allstar as a rookie in 2003 while going 14-6 with a 3.30 era, and also played a pretty nice role coming out of the bullpen for the marlins in the postseason. In 2005 he was lights out leading the major leagues with 22 wins and posting a 2.63 era. He also brought great energy to the ballclub and always gave 110 percent every game. Lets not forget that the guy can hit also.

Win totals mean nothing.

Brown and Beckett performed much better as pitchers here.

So you completely ignore the Era he posted those 2 years?

No.

I said that Brown and Beckett had better careers here. Statistically they did. Kevin Brown was the best pitcher in Marlins history. Career ERA of 2.30 over two seasons. Beckett's is 3.40 something while Dontrelle's approaches 3.80.

Ok i agree with you there but the question wasnt if Beckett and Brown were better it's why does D-train deserve to be regarded as a top marlin

Don't follow your logic here.

No one is saying he didn't have 1.75 solid seasons here, but if there are two or more pitchers with statistically better seasons the list is erroneous and obviously created by journalists from the outside looking in.

If Dontrelle didn't have the nice guy reputation he never would have made the list. I suppose it also helps that his career is in jeopardy and Beckett still has time to establish himself in Boston.

My argument was why D-train should be regarded in this conversation. I do think Brown and Beckett were better pitchers and shouldve been considered as well.
