August 23, 200817 yr Can you guys give me little comparisons for some of the Marlins farm hands. i know a lot about the marlins farm but i want to try to master everyone and learn more and more about the fish. thanks.
August 23, 200817 yr I've heard Cameron Maybin compared to Griffey, but that is stretching it a bit in my estimation. Coghlan can probably be compared to a Placido Polanco with a lot more speed. That's all for now, I might come up with some more later.
August 23, 200817 yr Maybin = Mike Cameron Coghlan = Brian Roberts Raynor = BJ Upton Logan Morrison = Adrian Gonzalez Those are the only ones I put some work into for now...and all four of those guys I think could be starting for us next year. The Low Single A guys are too hard to compare to anyone for now. Gotta give them at least another year.
August 24, 200817 yr that would be awesome if raynor could put up numbers like upton i like watching him for tampa
August 25, 200817 yr Maybin = Mike Cameron Coghlan = Brian Roberts Raynor = BJ Upton Logan Morrison = Adrian Gonzalez Those are the only ones I put some work into for now...and all four of those guys I think could be starting for us next year. The Low Single A guys are too hard to compare to anyone for now. Gotta give them at least another year. I don't mind Maybin and Logan, even if I expect Maybin to have a better avg, but the other two need some work. Raynor has no shot at BJ. Upton's got mountains more power, even if it isn't showing this year. I've been trying to think of a comp. Francisco, Dejesus, Lewis, Victorino? I'm just going with an AVG/OBP/SLUG line also, and not a direct as player. Something like that. I really can't come up with something good. And Coghlan I'd go with Loretta or Ellis in a good year. A less awesome Pedroia. He ain't B Rob. Won't have the speed, walks, or the outrageous defense.
August 26, 200817 yr Pedroia seems like a pretty good comp for Coghlan. And Victorino was the guy I was going with for Raynor when I was thinking about it last night, but Raynor's a beast on the paths.
August 27, 200817 yr Raynor keeps making me think of Matt Lawton, though the stats don't line up quite as much as I would've thought. Raynor has better speed and a little bit more pop, but he should be a solid all-around player like Lawton was. Raynor strikes out quite a bit more right now, and he could have a couple of big seasons if he is able to cut down on the strikeouts before he loses much speed.

A less awesome Pedroia. He ain't B Rob. Won't have the speed, walks, or the outrageous defense. I agree Raynor doesn't have the upside of an Upton (not a lot of players do) but I can see Raynor putting up similar numbers to what BJ has done this year. Victorino is a nice one also, maybe even a Curtis Granderson? Coghlan I think can be a .390+ OBP guy, hit around .300 and steal 25+ bases, which is close to what Roberts is. I don't see those numbers as unrealistic at all.
August 27, 200817 yr Dallas Trahern= Brandon Webb I know he's your buddy and all but, really? I mean, seriously?
August 28, 200817 yr OMG, I wish John Raynor would be the next Shane Victorino. One of my favorite players, in the big leagues. We could use a guy like Shane Victorino. Anyways...I don't see the comparison between Coghlan and Roberts. Roberts is a good defensive 2B. Hopefully, Coghlan turns out to be that way, but right now...eh.
August 28, 200817 yr Well, he might be good, and just have high error totals. Anyone know what the scouts say? And Raynor will be, if anything, better than Victorino. He's got more patience, and a little more pop than Victorino did in the minors.
August 29, 200817 yr Dallas Trahern= Brandon Webb I know he's your buddy and all but, really? I mean, seriously? Actually....yes. I have been told by at least 10 Scouts and 2 or 3 MLB people that exact thing. Here is what you may not realize. Dallas has thrown the entire season with a bad thumb on his pitching hand. He had a procedure done on it in Spring Training and it didnt work. He will have the same procedure, most likely by someone else, as soon as the season is over.
August 29, 200817 yr Gaby Sanchez can be compared to D Lee with a lil less defense and maybe less power and Sean West is compared to Randy Johnson
August 29, 200817 yr Or alot less defense and alot less power. DLee is not a good comparison. And I also dont share the optimism for Trahern, although he is young.
August 30, 200817 yr Gaby Sanchez can be compared to D Lee with a lil less defense and maybe less power fail.
August 30, 200817 yr Gaby Sanchez MVP = A. Pujols :notworthy For comparing Gaby Sanchez to Albert Pujols you officially qualify for the loony bin.
August 31, 200817 yr Gaby Sanchez MVP = A. Pujols :notworthy For comparing Gaby Sanchez to Albert Pujols you officially qualify for the loony bin. Gaby Sanchez MVP :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :whistle when was the last time you were anything :thumbup I don't write to write here this is for you . Gaby Sanchez making noise by craig on Nov 27, 2006 6:01 AM EST in News Gaby Sanchez is starting to make a name for himself and the scouts are impressed. Gaby Sanchez, the Marlins' top position prospect, was impressive in Arizona. Sanchez has played third base and catcher in Class A, but he's concentrating on first base now. "You can't compare anybody to Albert Pujols, but the body type is pretty similar," a rival scout says. "At first glance you might not think a lot of bat speed is there, but his approach is so good and he uses the whole field. Don't just dismiss this guy. He could come fast, just like Pujols." If this is true that means Jacobs and Stokes will be trade bait in the very near future. I haven't seen the young man play, not that my assessment would be much of an addition, but he could be in the show very quickly. I expect he will start the season out in Jupiter and if he continues to show promise he will be playing for the Mudcats by the end of the season. I don't think the organization will feel any need to rush him up to the Bigs - barring injuries. But in the 2008 season he may be holding down the number three position in the field. His stats for the AFL weren't killer which is why I think he needs more development. But obviously at least one scout saw something he liked.
August 31, 200817 yr A 2 year old article. Gaby is still not a power prospect, that takes care of that comparison. And Pujols is an excellent first basemen, something Gaby Sanchez is not. Pujols is also in the top 3 overall hitters in the game, something Gaby is not, as has been mentioned, he profiles as a 10-15 HR(in his best years) first baseman. As usual, you are grasping for straws.
