LordMagnus
Power numbers are nice, but I bet if you look, a large percentage of home runs hit by this team are solo home runs. And quite frankly, solo home runs do not hurt the opposing team much at all. This should be quite clear by looking at individual players on this team. There are guys with a lot of home runs, but no one is even at 80 RBI right now. Heck, this team might not even have a single guy with 90 RBI by the time the season ends. You need guys to get on base, period. A three run home run is better than a solo home run any day of the week. u gotta be kidding me! seriously!!!??? Yeah I know its common sense. And its common sense the Fish aren't built for that sort of thing.

For some people on this team, its home run, double or nothing, i.e. Mike Jacobs.

ICantu
I'm really torn on Dan. He has so much power but he is so inconsistent that it gets so so frustrating...if they got some good value for him I'd be happy and if they kept him I'd still be happy...it's weird. :mis2

mountainfish
We have alot of players that are basically the same type of hitter. (Uggla, Jacobs, Ross, McPhereson, Hermida) Lots of power potential, high strikeouts, .240-260 batting avg., average defensively. We don't need all of them. Trade the ones who are the most expensive, oldest or least versatile. And take trade value into consideration. Jacobs and Uggla are the most logical choices. dim
yep, Cody is a guy i would like to keep, mainly because we are a HORRIBLE defensive team and he has been one of the few bright spots there. Hermida needs to actually show me he can do something ALL season not just the 2nd half. If he can't get rid of him after the 09 season. Uggz will be gone soon, he will be asking for a lot, and management has groomed Couglen, he is ready, Jacobs is replaceable also, Gaby Sanchez is close to ready, but until then we can move Cantu to first and see what McPhearson can do. I wouldn't put Uggla in the same bucket as those other guys. Uggla is one of the top 3 or 4 2B in the game. Hermida and Jacobs are both below average at their positions. Cody has done well but hasn't proven he can do well over an extended period of time. I would keep Uggla and Cody and give McPherson a shot at 3B and put Cantu at 1B. I'm not saying that he is ready defensively, I just think that he brings something to this team that Uggla doesn't, he is a contact hitter. He will have a high batting average and could turn out to be another Luis Castillo but worse defensively. Couglan may need another year to correct some problems. And then you lose what Uggla is and you add another bad glove to the IF. I'm still amazed by how our fanbase is in such a hurry to trade away the team leaders in RBIs. As for how Coghlan is offensively, his minor league numbers look to me a bit similar to Jeremy Hermida. Now I'm not consigning him to the same fate, I'm just saying that good minor league offensive numbers don't guarantee major league performance. Before people even want to try replacing an All-Star run producer like Uggla with a player who is a defensive downgrade, I'd like to see how he hits in the bigs. dim
hey, if I had a say I would have Andino start, but that is just me. I have been a big fan of Andino's since he came over. He is a huge upgrade defensively at 2nd and has shown he does not belong in the minors, he is a starter in my eyes.
