I'm boycotting the marlins until freddi gonzales removes gregg as our closer. I'm not a fare weather fan, but I'm not going to waste my time rooting for a team that cares more about sticking a currently horrible pitcher on the mound in the 9th, than about winning. When anyone else has horrible streaks, they don't get to pitch. When pinto was sucking, he wasn't used as the setup man anywhere near as often as he was in the beginning. Why is gregg special? because he's our "closer?" Closers in the mlb are given way too much leeway.

changed the channel and watched the smu vs rice game.

 

my friend texted me when cantu came up to bat so i was like hey why not?

 

but as soon as i saw helms come up i changed the channel again. i knew wes wouldnt come through.

 

and yes, another tough loss for the marlins.

he sure is a standup guy and its really a shame to see his good year go down the drain.

 

i remember just a few outings ago his era was 2.29 before he gave up the 3 run homer to ward. thats when this downturn began.

 

i think he really is a great pitcher whith great stuff but hes just too inconsistant

 

and to tell you the truth i wouldnt mind seeing him next year on the marlins......i think he has something to prove and he knows it.

 

but since 04 it always seems that the marlins collapse at this time and closers like jones borowski and now gregg fall apart.

Ahead by one run in the bottom of the 8th.......I looked over at the Marlins bullpen and got that old sinking feeling in the stomach when I saw Gregg warming up.

 

When in the top of the 9th he got the first two batters, I told myself that I had over reacted. Then it happened!

Gregg has single handedly ended the season for the Marlins :blink:

"Wanted: Closing Pitcher for Major League Baseball Team. The ability to see as far as the catcher/plate a distinct advantage."

Why don't the FO trade him to the Mets or Phillies so that he can blow saves for them, to let us get back in first place.
