An Oswalt-Sheets 1-2 punch would be sick. I dont see the Rangers going after him cos when was the last time they had a good pitcher. No doubt the Yankees will be linked to him.

They thought Sabathia-Sheets would be sick though and Sheets didn't really deliver. I think when he's not the clear ace it bothers him, and not in a good motivational way, and he falters.

 

He's just a wuss. Mentally and physically. The moment he gets a comfy contract he'll go back to starting 20 games at the max.

Hey guys, Brewer fan here. Just curious about this because I remember seeing a Marlins fan complaining about how much Mike Jacobs sucks not that long ago. I checked it out and yeah, his OBP is terrible. Seems like an all power type hitter.

 

Fielder is kind of stereotyped as being that same kind, but in reality he's a great singles and doubles hitter in addition to his power.

 

A rumor about Fielder has been him and possibly others getting traded for Matt Cain this offseason. It won't happen, and I don't think I want it to.

 

I was just wondering, how would you guys feel about the Marlins acquiring Fielder from us, presumably in a deal involving Nolasco or Volstad (I don't know a lot about your pitchers I'm just assuming those two are your best younger ones).

 

He used to live in Florida for a long time too so that would get him some points with the fans.

 

im not given up either of those two for prince and i love prince. However Id give up anibal sanchez and some other prospects like Dallas McPherson or Gabby sanchez for prince. I also heard Peter Gammons a few weeks ago sayin that its a possibility we deal sanchez this off season.

Don't think the Brewers would wanna give up Prince for Anibal given his struggles this year. And as for prospects doubt that would work cause they would want (a) player(s) that is/are ready to contribute now.

When has Fielder ever been a clubhouse problem? The only time there was drama was when he shoved Parra, and that led to a winning streak.

Time being? Neither one is better than being a backup. That said, Dallas McPhereson is not a prospect and its very doubtful he has much trade value. Same for Gaby but for other reasons, guys who can only play first base but have no power generally dont gain much interest.

This would be the stupidest trade the Marlins could make.

 

1. Young pitchers are just...more valuable. Especially aces...which Ricky Nolasco has pitched like one this year. No Nolasco, no JJ, no Volstad...and no Miller either. That = no trade, b/c Milwaukee wouldn't take anything else, nor should they.

 

2. The Marlins are looking to improve defensively. There's enough power on the team, to the point where Fielder isn't a team need. Fielder would also not have the same success here. It's a lot more difficult to hit the ball out in Dolphin Stadium...especially as a left-handed hitter.

 

3. The Marlins are already set for the future, at the 1B position. The name is Logan Morrison. He'll be here in a couple of years.
