Marlin's Addition by Subtraction

No unfortunately, but looking around it seems that low .700 OPS is about the average.

It looks alot closer to .650 on my side. Numbers are too big for me to crunch though.

Here is the list of all pitchers with an era under 3.50 sorted by OPS.

ohh

let me try and find some free spreadsheet thing for mac and I can figure out the average there easily

The problem with BR is that they don't use tabs, they space everything out, making it a bitch to move into excel.

nice, thanks.

So he's done well against them throughout his career then.

Can you guys do the same for the other 3 options (era 3.51-4.25, 4.26-5.25, 5.26+)

Uggla and Jacobs frustrate me like nobody else on this team.

The sooner they are gone, the sooner we take the next step.

Having players that just swing and have no clue how to have a professional at bat isnt what wins you titles.

Especially when their defense isnt great.

That SI article on Uggla this summer said everything you need to know, good pitching will eat him alive, meaning he would be eaten alive in the playoffs. Jacobs is even worse with even worse defense.

What in the world are you talking about?

Uggla doesn't just swing without a clue. His high number of Ks has as much to do with taking pitches as it does swinging. But to put it in real perspective, Uggla was 2nd in BB on the Marlins and was 2nd in BB among Major League 2B. Honestly, did you even watch him play this year? They guy had an OBP like 420 with RISP to go with that.

And as someone mentioned earlier, he is our best defender among full-time IF these last 3 years.

Uggla and Jacobs frustrate me like nobody else on this team.

That's a large amount of wrong. Jacobs and Uggla are ridiculously different players.

It's been said but it needs to be said again.

Uggla was 2nd in OBP on the team and 3rd amongst NL 2B. He was 2nd in SLG on the team and 2nd amongst NL 2B. He's 2nd on the team in OPS and 2nd amongst NL 2B.

Uggla in his career is above average against "good pitching".

Uggla's defense is slightly above average.

Uggla is the 2nd best hitter on the team.
