Freeeeeeedddommmmmm!!!

And you support Obama?!?!

So was this a poll put up just to bash anyone that doesn't support Ron Paul or any other 3rd party candidate?

No, I'm honestly surprised that someone who supports Obama thinks freedom is the best thing about America. I would sooner guess an Obama supporter would think that its democracy or equality rather than freedom. It is an expression of genuine surprise, as I don't think the platform on which Obama is running even pretends to put a high value on liberty. At least McCain pretends to be a conservative, even if he is a socialist.

Since when does being conservative have anything to do with freedom?

He's not saying being conservative has anything to do with freedom. He's saying that most Democrats would have stronger feelings towards equality and maintaining a democracy, rather than freedom.

What makes America so Great?

Many of us have forgotten that America is the greatest country in the world, since we have been deemed by many outside the US "the enemy" since we invaded Iraq.

But just the overall freedom in the United States, the mostly fair judicial system that keeps the bad out of our society

The free samples that are given out at Sam's Club and BJ's

The mostly non judging nature of people, that we as american's, whether gay, black, jewish, muslim, christian, hispanic, and others can get along in a non hostile environment and coexist peacefully

And most of all, American Idol. :thumbup

Well, being conservative is supposed to mean you support limited government and maximized individual liberty, since those are the founding principles of our government that we would like to conserve.

Of course today, the label conservative is applied to the GOP who would rather see the US become an Evangelical theocracy that listens in to everyone's conversations and watches people at all times to make sure they don't engage in any immoral activites that might "destroy the fabric of our nation" or some nonsense like that.

Opportunities. Whether you make it or not depends on YOU.

Far from the truth. Minorities in particular do not have all of the opportunities that others might have. It's just a sad fact of this country. The same goes for women, who are only making 60-70% or so on average as men are, and they are still having difficulties getting into the highest reaches of the political and business world, even after all this time. We still have a ways to go.

And even with all that, it still depends upon you.

Inequities in opportunities between men and women are nonexistent. The fact is men and women who perform the same work earn the same salary. Women on the average earn less than men because of personal choices and not because of inequities in opportunities or pay.

There are still some inequities with minorities but even with the added hurdles their success depends on them.

What FutureGM forgot to mention is that even more than minorities and women, the people that have the hardest time in this country are the poor. A rich black person or woman has a lot more chances than a poor person of any ethnic group. We tend to ignore this very often, but from what I've seen growing up in a working class family is that I relate much more to a working class black person or white person than a high class hispanic.

While I agree the rich have more opportunities I think the poor have plenty of opportunities to succeed and if they don't I think the decisions they made throughout their lives are the primary cause for the lack of success as opposed to opportunities denied. This is not a 3rd world country where you're destined to a miserable life (in economic terms) if you were born poor.
