November 3, 200322 yr It's Matsui. Whether you agree with the "rookie" label for him or not, he's still going to get the award.
November 3, 200322 yr Author Either Berroa, Baldelli, or Gerut should get it. I would vote for Baldelli because he has the best shot of the three
November 3, 200322 yr No one is going to convince me that the Japanese league is that much better than our Triple-A leagues.
November 3, 200322 yr Author I think Japanese players should be eligible, but no way did Matsui have as good a year as the other three mentioned players
November 3, 200322 yr Rocco hit .289 with 11 HR, 78 RBI, 89 R, 30 BB, 128 K, 27 SB Berroa hit .287 with 17 HR, 73 RBI, 92 R, 29 BB, 100 K, 21 SB Gerut hit .279 with 22 HR, 75 RBI, 66 R, 35 BB, 70 K, 4 SB Matsui hit .287 with 16 HR, 106 RBI, 82 R, 63 BB, 86 K, 2 SB It's awfully close, but I still gotta go Matsui. Numbers are better, more consistent over the course of the season. Berroa had 2 good months, Gerut wasn't up all year, and Baldelli struggled after the break.

November 3, 200322 yr I think matsui is going to win the rookie of the year award but i think that gerut should win it. But if he was up in the major leagues all year he would be the ROY without question but you have to go with matsui now.
November 3, 200322 yr Author Matsui should be eligible, but he didn't have as good a year as the others
November 6, 200322 yr Hideki Matsui will most likely get it...first of all, the hype about him was so strong, and second, look who he plays for...even though his numbers could have been better, just the fact of him being a Yankee will get him the award.
