Why not sign him

At this point I think we are set everywhere but in the pen

Lindstrom scared me when he came in the 7th and now hes our closer, very nervous

So we give him 1/7 or so, would make the bullpen MUCH better

He had a great post al lstar break year in 2008

Still dont get why Wachether and Nelson werent resigned (but who am I to question the chosen one LB)

LOL at this thread.

If we aren't willing to pay Nelson his $1.5 million, why the hell would we spend $5-8 million for a single season of a reliever nearing the end of his career?

I would love to hear Hells Bells but Hoffman is a definate no we cant afford him and we already have Lindy and Tucker who can both be very good closers

No. First, he would cost way too much. Second, Hoffman has thrived his entire career playing in the NL West against what I think one can argue are inferior offenses. I would say that I also think Hoffman is overrated, and that while he has accumulated nice numbers and has been good and consistent, he isn't the sort of player who rises to big occassions.

Might I remind you he thrived FIRST for the Marlins :whistle

Why do threads like this usually come from people with less than 100 post? Then we never see that person again. Sometimes I feel like we are continuously arguing the same things.

The reason those new posters are never seen again is because when they make threads like this certain people insult and berate them. So they don't want to come back. Don't blame them really.

A simple, the marlins can't afford hoffman or hoffam nis too expensive and too old suffices just fine. No need for sarcasm and insults.

Jerus isn't a new poster. He's been in and out for a long while now.

That said, some of the people on here seriously need to chill out. Too many posters seem to have been born with great knowledge of baseball and where never newbies.

I'm glad someone is finally bringing this up. It seems like lately people just wait for someone to post some new idea so they can jump all over them.
