March 1, 200917 yr I was walking through Wal-Mart; and as is my custom I made my way to the magazine section to look through some sports publications. I grabbed the Sporting News 2009 Baseball Preview, and quickly flipped to the NL East and saw a ridiculous piece of mainstream media ignorance. Here is their all NL East Team, see if you can pick out the guy that shouldn't be there. C - Brian McCann 1B - Ryan Howard 2B - Chase Utley 3B - David Wright SS- Hanley Ramirez OF - Raul Ibanez OF - Carlos Beltran OF - Jeff Francoeur SP - Johan Santana RP - J.J. Putz CP - Brad Lidge It's beyond ridiculous that Jeff Francoeur gets on that team....it's lazy writers and poor research like this, that encourage me to try and make it in the world of sports journalism.
March 1, 200917 yr Franceour is terrible. The argument could be made that Ibanez is no better than a few outfielders in the division.
March 1, 200917 yr Why is Putz on there but not K-Rod? Cause Fransisco Rodriguez is a closer, and he is not better than brad lidge.
March 1, 200917 yr Why is Putz on there but not K-Rod? Cause Fransisco Rodriguez is a closer, and he is not better than brad lidge. im calling bulls***. are you saying krod only had like 200 saves last year cuz he was on the angels?

No, he is saying that Brad Lidge is better. Ignoring the fact that Saves is a crap stat.
March 1, 200917 yr That and If lidge had 70 save chances like Rodriguez did, he would have done the same thing, if not better.
March 1, 200917 yr Saves is a crap stat. I mean really, oh you get your 3 outs and you get a save... Psh...I wanna see K-rod pitch from the 6-7 inning...that's a save. But hey it is what it is right? Lidge > K-Rod throw in the fact that Lidge went to ND :-)
March 1, 200917 yr Author where's Dunn? Not positive, but this may have been written before Dunn signed.

Cause Fransisco Rodriguez is a closer, and he is not better than brad lidge. im calling bulls***. are you saying krod only had like 200 saves last year cuz he was on the angels? Yes. Also, last season: K-Rod: 68.3 IP, 2-3, 62/69 saves, 2.24 ERA, 1.288 WHIP (0-1. no saves, 7.71 ERA in 2 games in the playoffs) Lidge: 69.3 IP, 2-0, 41/41 saves, 1.95 ERA, 1.226 WHIP (0-0, 7/7 saves, 0.96 ERA in 7 games in the playoffs) Lidge had more innings pitcher, a better save percentage, ERA, and WHIP, and was much better in the playoffs. He was also the first pitcher ever to have 40 saves, no loses, and no blown saves.
March 1, 200917 yr are the OF really that bad in this division? its a predictive thread, yes? cause Werth had a helluva year. either way, isnt victorino better than one of those chumps? oh but he plays center so they choose beltran...? is j. werth really the best corner IF in the division? i think he might be... lets see how ibanez does in 09. nl east is going to be sick this year im glad i live in DC (although I miss miami) NL east in DC AL east in Batlimore das some good baseball
March 2, 200917 yr I would put Dukes in Right Field, but he missed a lot of time last year, so I guess I will go with Werth. Francoeur is a joke

Always puts up high slugging numbers, but can't get on base to save his life.

March 2, 200917 yr Dunn>>>>>>>>>>>>>>every LFer in the NL east. Easily, but this was probably put out before he was signed.
March 2, 200917 yr Isn't Utley going to miss like 2 months of the season? You could argue Uggla for that spot.
March 2, 200917 yr Isn't Utley going to miss like 2 months of the season? You could argue Uggla for that spot. He won't. Even if he did, I don't think it matters. Utley is the best 2B in baseball, not to mention the NL East.
