Your reading & comprehension isn't the greatest. His point was that Choi wasn't bad FOR THE MARLINS.

Holy f***, stop judging choi by what he did as a non-marlin. Nobody is saying he's better than lee, but as a marlin, choi was a productive first baseman. It doesn't matter what else he did in dodger blue.

Did they get the better end of the trade? Sure, in a pure salary dump, we didn't get equal value. Shocking. But in his half season here, choi was really, really good. We got decent value for a salary dump, and what choi did on other teams doesn't matter at all.

He hit 15 home runs in one of the toughest parks on lefties and put up a f***ing .882 ops holy dicks, man.

Show me where he repeat or improves that OPS, PLEASE DO IT!!!!.He had one solid year with a ridiculously low BA and mediocre power.

BIG DEAL.

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we're going to discuss his value to the marlins judge what he did as a marlin. .270 average is ridiculously low? .495 slugging in dolphins stadium for a lefty if mediocre?

That's what he did as a marlin. He was traded after half a season, but I'm this discussion, what does it matter what he did after he was traded? He put up comparable numbers to lee in his time here, that is all that matters. You have yet to show how what he did as a dodger affects us or causes us to lose that trade. It was a f***ing salary dump, you don't get equal value there, but the half season we got from choi was pretty awesome value.

Choi hit .251 in 2004 and is a career .240 hitter.

Who cares what uniform he was wearing

By your standards, every team that traded for Carlos Pena pre-Rays made amazing trades because of what Pena has done in a Rays uniform.

YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE VALUE THEY GOT IN THE f***ING TRADE!

It matters what uniform he was wearing because he doesn't hurt us wearing another uniform. My god, I can't believe this discussion is actually taking place. You judge that trade on what Choi did in a Marlins uniform, because what he did as a Dodger has absolutely zero bearing on our franchise. What is so hard to get about this?

Yes, the Cubs got the better player. But for the time we had Choi, he gave us comparable value to what Lee would have in that same time. The fact that Choi became a replacement level player in Chavez Ravine means nothing to us.

Yeah i can't believe your actually busting your behind for a player like Choi.

I have a thing when people say completely baseless, stupid f***ing sh*t.

Derrek lee was worth 2.9 wins the first season he was with the Cubs. After this point, it doesn't really matter to continually count. I mean, he would have been a free agent. Only that season actually effects us. What does it matter if his 05-08 happened in a Cubs jersey because we traded him there and he signed an extension for those years, or if instead we kept him for 04, and then he signs with the Cubs as a FA and puts up the same numbers? If he signs as a free agent, nobody talks about the Cubs stealing him from us. But because he signed an extension with him after we traded for him, those years now effect us some how.

Only 04 matters in this discussion.

Choi was worth 1.5 when he was a Marlin. He was traded for Lo Duca, who was worth 3. He was traded for Gaby Hernandez, who in turn was traded for Arthur Rhodes, who was worth 0.5.

All in all, what was traded for Lee has given the Marlins 5 wins.

In other words, the trade actually worked for the Marlins in the long term of things. Hell, even just looking at the '04 season, Lo Duca was worth 0.7 win. Combined with Choi, that makes a 2.2 wins. Only 0.7 below Lee's.

It is not the big deal people make it out to be.

The Cubs owned the Marlins in the Derrek Lee trade, so that isn't 100% true.Maybe 90%.

"Got the better end of a deal in a pure salary dump, while the Marlins still got pretty good value" is not agreeing with you.

Choi hit .161 with the Dodgers, dummy. We losed.

Enough said.

Enough said.

There's a difference between "owning" as you said, and "getting the better end". You are the one conceding.

You lose! Good day, sir.

What makes me laugh is not the fact that he blew the first save he gets this year, its just that we always screw the cubs via trade. Do they ever learn?

The Cubs owned the Marlins in the Derrek Lee trade, so that isn't 100% true.Maybe 90%.

I guess they owned us, because Lee became a stud in Chicago, but in his half season with us, he put up a higher OPS than all but 1 of Lee's Marlins seasons and his OPS+ was higher than Lee's ever was with us. I don't get why people hate so hard on Choi.

I guess him not playing in the major leagues since 2005 means nothing.Choi was a bust when he entered the big leagues.

Go ahead argue is career .240 average and teen home run totals, i dare you Bobby boy.

It means nothing to us because he traded Choi before he busted.

He's in the Korean league right now. He had signed with TB? on a minor league contract, played in ST, and then I assume when he didn't make the team, he instead opted to go back to Korea than the minors.

holy sh*t just looked at his wiki

After failing to perform well against Korean pitching, Choi was demoted to the Korean minor league affiliate of the Kia Tigers.

Talk about a fall from grace lololol

Getting Gregg was pointless with Marmol being such a beast.

Because your Jim Hendry. Because you have put all the hours, scouting reports, considerations and thought into this acquisition. Right??? Or did you just make an emotional post after reading this topic? But I bet its because you know baseball so well...wink!
