Kevin Gregg blows it for the Cubs

Featured Replies

In case you guys weren't aware, Gregg gave up the game winning single to Keppinger. I really don't get how the Cubs have so much faith in him as their closer after his complete breakdown with the Marlins last year. We'll see.

What makes me laugh is not the fact that he blew the first save he gets this year, its just that we always screw the cubs via trade. Do they ever learn?

The Cubs owned the Marlins in the Derrek Lee trade, so that isn't 100% true.Maybe 90%.

I was going to post this when it happened but then i noticed he didnt blew it. Neal Cotts gave up two single before Gregg was called, so you can't really say it was his fault they lost.

Gregg enters with mens on 1st & 2nd.

Jason Michaels flies out to center fielder. 1 out.

Gregg intentionally walks Miguel Tejada. Bases loaded.

Keppinger singles to left field. Game Over.

Well you also can't forget the first game. Gregg came on to save it and gave up 2 straight singles and a run. He got the save but that does sound all too familiar.

To be fair, Gregg came in with 2 on and nobody out. The guy who deserves most of the blame is Neal Cotts...or maybe Lou Piniella for sticking with Cotts for more than 1 inning. I thought he should have brought in Sean Marshall in the 10th.

I guess they owned us, because Lee became a stud in Chicago, but in his half season with us, he put up a higher OPS than all but 1 of Lee's Marlins seasons and his OPS+ was higher than Lee's ever was with us. I don't get why people hate so hard on Choi.

Is this the "OFFICIAL Point and laugh at the Cubs for wanting Kevin Gregg as there Closer and givng us someone with twice the talent and that can actually see the signs Thread"?

I think the Cubs only looked at Gregg's save totals and nothing else.

This reminds me of when Looper left us and ended up with the Mets, and Mets fans actually thought he would be a good closer. Yeah, about that....

I guess him not playing in the major leagues since 2005 means nothing.Choi was a bust when he entered the big leagues.

Go ahead argue is career .240 average and teen home run totals, i dare you Bobby boy.

Not neccessarily. Lee would have never been what he is today if he stayed in FLA. Dolphin Stadium beat him up offensively. Everything he hit here just died.

I doubt that.He hit 27, 28 and 31 home runs in a marlin uniform. He went from 31 in 2003 to 32 as a Cub and hit 22 and 20 in 2007 and 2008.2005 was just an insane breakout year.

he had an .882 OPS with us as a left handed hitter in that park. He was really, really good for us. What he did after we traded him is irrelevant. Lee was very well suited for Wrigley, and he took full advantage of that, but that doesn't change the fact that Choi was actually pretty good for us.

Okay i'll let you consider that really really good. The point is the Cubs got the much better end of the trade, bush beater.
