April 15, 200917 yr But in spite of all temptations... to be part of other nations... he remains Dominican! Heeeee remains DoMI-i-I-i-I-i-I-i-Inicaaaaaaaaaan! (second reference to the same song, I know, but it's stuck in my head and I'm in a mood.)
April 15, 200917 yr Different shaped heads, Castillo has/had ear rings, Boner has lighter skin. I dont think anyone means to say they are twins!.... its more in their stance, swagger and skill set........... It's been seven games. Are we really going this route?
April 15, 200917 yr She didn't say skill, she said skill sets. She means tools. Since tools are so outdated it's not a big deal.

April 15, 200917 yr Comparing Bonifacio to Lui is an insult to Lui. I disagree. Good point. It is an insult to Luis' skills. Luis' minor league OBP was .404 and he was doing that at a mostly young age for his level. Boni's was .341. Come on. They are not comparable at all!

Luis was so much more skilled than Boni. "No power" is not a similar skill set if it isn't accompanied with Luis' on base skills, it's just detrimental. Luis had a .418 OBP IN THE MAJORS AT 24! He was so much more skilled than Bonerface it's not even fair to compare them! Just because they are both Dominican and can't hit for power doesn't mean they are similar! f***.
April 15, 200917 yr Come on guys, Bonifacio is a 3rd baseman. Argument over. He's kinda a 2nd baseman disguising himself as a 3rd baseman currently tbh. /sarcasm

My point was very clear. Boni reminds ME of Castillo. Not in stats.. not in looks... but in action and playing styles. End of story.
April 15, 200917 yr So it's a superficial relationship that doesn't mean anything. ok. So why are talking about it? But still, why are their playing styles similar? because they are fast and don't have power? One walked a lot and had good plate discipline and bat control, one swings at everything and doesn't walk alot and strikes out a lot.

Hard to make a solid contribution when a great writer like yourself who will pwn us all is not proving her point. Bob is asking you why he reminds you of Castillo, and you're just here saying..."well, he just reminds me of Castillo." Don't be afraid to use a stat to PROVE your point, mmmkay?

April 15, 200917 yr No, I get it. It's just not something that is worth discussing. Who cares if a guy looks like him if he can't play like him.

I backed up my point, countless times. I'm not talking statistically, hell... statistically at Boni's age, Castillo whooped him in stats. ITS NOT WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. I've said it previously and I'll say it again in Erick's World- Watching his movements reminds me of Castillo. Watching him field a ball reminds me of Castillo. Watching him swing a bat reminds ME of Castillo. It's an opinion... So, like it's already been said, Population of Erick's World is 1....... and its not increasing- not with your freakin' attitude. READ and COMPREHEND what people say before attacking.
April 16, 200917 yr If the choice is between pointless discussing how much Castillo looks like Bonifacio or living in "Erick's World" I'll take Erick's world. I could say Jeremy Hermida reminds me of Babe Ruth, but it doesn't mean anything if he can't hit the f***ing ball. And I do distinctly remember some people saying the same thing about De Aza regarding Luis. Worked out for him.

READ and COMPREHEND what people say before attacking. Watching him field a ball reminds of you of Castillo? Odd, since they're playing different positions. Watching him swing a bat reminds of you of Castillo? I guess...they're both slap hitters. Although, not even. Castillo actually had some pop from the right-handed side from time to time. Bonifacio is just a slap hitter, and a mediocre one at that. Population of Erick's World is 1? Really? Then why are you arguing with other people on this thread, as well? :lol The only reason he reminds of you of Castillo is b/c he's Dominican. Change his race/skin color, and he'd be reminding you of another player.
April 16, 200917 yr RE: 40 errors and I've skipped the past couple pages so sorry if it's already been brought up. He commited 110 errors in 644 games (Don't know Inn total, can't find a site that has inn total) in the minor leagues. That's ~25 errors per 150 games. He has commited 8 errors at the ML level in 371 innings. Over 1150 innings (about a season worth), that's ~25 errors. That's also almost all at 2b in both leagues, where he's going to be more comfortable than his new 3b. So yeah, he likely will be a big error guy. But, while errors suck, they're not the only thing that matter, and his range should more than make up for it and still allow him to be an above average glove.
April 16, 200917 yr Such a predicatble cycle: 1. innocent observation that says NOTHING about statistics 2. someone attacks the post, using statistics to back up the attack 3. OP defends own post in spite of the stats, which were never part of the point to begin with 4. stat rats circle their wagons and try to make OP look stupid because they aren't exclusively concerned with statistics Please stop trying to stifle viewpoints with consecutive posts about "how you don't like superficial comparisons" who gives a sh*t what your personal preferences are? translation: "if it does not logically follow from (an exclusively) statistical analysis, don't post it on MB.com/forums" no, we'll post whatever we like, and would appreciate it if you stopped trying to invalidate our viewpoints, especially when they are based purely on personal preference (opinion).
April 16, 200917 yr Thank you, Nny, for a post that is worth reading. People spend their time to contribute something worthwhile to the discussion only to have the thread hijacked!

Change his race/skin color, and he'd be reminding you of another player. Okay, Boni is naturally 2nd base. I'm talking movement. THEIR FIELDING MOVEMENTS! Bonifacio is just a slap hitter, sure, but with less pop than Castillo? I think I remember him displaying a little power in the Dominican this off-season. I also do recall some pretty nice shots he hit in the opening series against Washington... But Luis and his huge power numbers from the right side that are severely padded by facing knuckleballers are MUCH more impressive. (and for your mind, No I am not downplaying Castillo at all.........I love him) And just because I will stand by my opinion and argue it out if thats what it takes doesnt make me part of your WHOPPING population.I don't pick fights with people with ridiculous arguments for fun. I don't have tampons and dildo's up my ass like you, so lay off. I don't think they look alike at all. I never once spoke of their appearance raising thoughts of similarities in my mind. I know plenty to back myself up, so you need to quit being condenscending. White, black or GREEN, I know who Boni's movements and swagger reminds me of and its Castillo.
April 16, 200917 yr Basically let's stop discussing things. Who gives a sh*t if the guy looks like Luis if he doesn't play like him? That ultimately means nothing and brings nothing to any conversation. My point about not liking superficial comparisons was that they don't add anything to the conversation and ultimately are a sign that you aren't willing to go beyond the surface in comparing players, which leads to a lot of inaccurate comparisons based on superficiality. Like this one.
