Maybin sent to AAA

Featured Replies

I love writing off 22-24 year olds after 100 pa.

Well someone did just that when Nigel Wilson went 0-16, and he was supposed to be the OF of the future for us... He went 0-16 during a call up one year, and was released a year later.

When it's clear that there is no talent there then it's easy to write someone off, and Maybin, and Bonifacio are both written off in my book.

Yeah but your book is written in crayon and finger paint, so luckily your opinion isn't relevant.

Have to give you credit for pulling nigel Wilson out of your ass. His big season in aaa featured a robust .318 on base percentage. Cannnot conpar him and maybin at all. But good try, points for originality.

This is a poinless pissing contest, and since I have the largest penis and can pee the furthest, I win.

:lol

Just got his first AAA hit and scored a run to tie the game at 3

Gotta say this is one of the funnier things I've read here in weeks.

Believe it or not, reading humorous infighting distracts me from the disaster that is actually on the field and I kind of like it.

Ouch someone woke up on the wrong side of the mid life crisis today!

Take it down a notch there bobbo it's not my fault your players suck! lol

Pull your skirt up little girl, and before you talk none sense Nigel Wilson had as much hype as Maybin, and he was much more productive then Maybin in the minors.

Both were/are 5 tool CF who are said to be "Cant miss prospects" but seriously before you talk his "very robust .318 on base percentage at AAA" well that was in AA in 1992 and I will guarantee you that Maybin doesn't get the numbers Wilson had in 1992 in AA!

Maybin is a failure much like your life...

You do realize that in AA last year, Maybin at a YOUNGER AGE than Wilson put up a .375 OBP?

He already bested his line last year at a younger age lol.

You're playing the MLB result of a 22 year old. You have no foresight of the future. You make the worse comparisons between players imaginable. You're saying that 22 year old will never have major league success based off of 100 PA, even though there's countless examples of hall of famers doing even worse at 22 years old in the majors. Yeah, Maybin is not guaranteed to do well. Maybe he becomes a AAAA player. But to completely write him off now is also completely assenine and shows your lack of understanding.

Nigel Wilson was a straight hacker who never had the plate discipline maybin did. Maybin actually walks. For a young tollsu centerfielder, that is a huge skill to have, because plate discipline tends to be something that develops.

Maybin, a year younger when he was in AA, put up a .375 on base percentage. 47 points higher, you cannot compare them.

This is dumb. I mean, you don't like cameron maybin. That ok, I guess. But he just turned 22. You don't give up on that because he has 95 bad plate appearances as a 22 year old. This is so f***ing dumb, I hate it.

He is 22 years old. He is not comparable to nigel Wilson at all. Completely different types of players. Just because they both happen to play cf isn't enough of a comparison.

Also, LOL midlife crisis for the 20 year old...

In AA:

Wilson out OPSed the league by .144 points.

Maybin out OPSed the league by .089 points.

Wilson had a better AA year but he was one year older. They can be compared.

They were completely different types of players. They can't be compared.

Really all they had in common was strikeouts. Wilson had more power but maybin had a far more advanced approache at the plate. 1/2 bb/k ratio, moderate power =/= 1/4 bb/k, good power. With toolsy high ceiling guy, I'll take the guy who walks and bank that the power will come, rather than the guy who has no idea what a strike zone is.

They can be compared in terms of success, and Wilson was probably 'better', but maybin's skill set is more projectable.

Blah blah blah, they are comparable.

Yeah, one of the biggest things to rating a prospect is BB/K and K rates, as the higher BB/K is and lower K rate is, aka the better contact they make and the better pitch recognition they have, the better chance they have of working out. Saying Maybin bested Wilson's line was probably false, in terms of creating runs in the league. But rating a prospect based off the line, on how they'll do in the majors, Maybin did do better. There's a reason Wilson never got a shake in the majors even though he was constantly putting up high OPSs.

Maybin's K rates are extremely concerning, yes. But a .48 BB/K isn't bad. It's towards the lower end that'd you want, especially considering his K rates (27%), but it isn't bad. The .24 that Wilson put up is though, especially considering his K rates (25%).

Blah blah blah, they are comparable.

Good point.

Why do you even bother posting something like this?

To get a rise, which he successfully got out of two people. Don't feed the troll and he won't get what he want and stop making posts like that.

Let's look at the actual years between 19-21 both very close in numbers, and at the age of 21 both were in AA, and look Wilson had a higher AVG, and hit 1 hr less so their stats is very similar, and both were 5 tool players who strikes out a lot, and are very fast "lead off type."

It's stupid that your fighting with me on this because you just don't want to admit that Maybin is crap!

Plus it's my personal opinion ok guy!? Meaning right or wrong it's what I see when I see Maybin I see another Nigel Wilson.

I didn't ask for your ignorant ass to agree or disagree... It's my opinion. So far Maybin is proving me right.

He is one of those guys who hits the crap out of the ball in the minors but will never develop into a major leaguer! If he does it will be much later as a late bloomer.

By then much like Wilson he will be paying in Japan...
