Yeah...so I had the radio on the other day and White Sox baseball was on. Men were on base and Scott Podsenik is at the plate. One of the White Sox announcers, DJ, says that you don't expect him to a hit home run here. Farmer responds by saying "Yeah, but you'd take it." DJ goes on to say "Actually, I'd rather have him hit a double to be on base for the big guys coming up next."

I thought DJ was on TV with Hawk Harrelson, as the worst announce team in baseball.

Actually, any team with Hawk is the worst announce team in baseball.

DRays at Baltimore earlier this week, bottom of the 9th, DRays up by about 5 runs. O's hit back to back homers so now it's about a 3 run game. When the guy hits the 2nd homer hall of famer Jim Palmer says something to the effect that a walk would have being better than the homer.

"I don't want guys walking unless they are fast, otherwise they are clogging up the basepaths"

-Everyone who has ever been on ESPN and talked about baseball with the exception of like 3 people.

It keeps the rally going, haven't you heard?

And you called me crazy.

Not baseball related but one of the obvious things I ever heard a commentator say was when during a game of football (soccer) Team X just went up 2-0 to which the commentator said "I think Team Y may need to score to get back into this match".

I think its an old school way of thought or something.

:p

There was this lady a few weeks back on ESPN's First Take talking about NFL players who remained unsigned. When it came to a particular former Dallas CB, she said "Adam Jones is still out on the street [without a job]."

The majority of the people who post on the Sun-Sentinel boards. It's just a bunch of 60-year old men who like to hear themselves talk about how horrible Hermida, Uggla, and Freddi are. I wouldn't call them baseball people, because they are idiots, but their lack of baseball intelligence is astounding. They make these obscure references from the good ol' days to get their point across.

And then when you counter their point they resort to personal jabs. Awesomeness.

I like reading what those old guys have to say. They saved that blog.

I remember John Kruk saying at the beginning of this year that he thought the Indians would be in the world series because of Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner, he said that with those two healthy it doesn't matter how bad the rest of the team is, that they would be a good team with those two on their A game, never mentioned how their pitching staff is so terrible, everytime Kruk talks its like diarrihea (sp?) out of the mouth, and when it comes to Phillies with him (same with Phillips and the Mets), there is no reasoning there, just homeristic statements.

Al Hrabosky is about 10 times worse than Hawk, if you can imagine that.

I just watched a video of David Eckstein faking catching a fly ball that he lost in the lights so he could get the runner on first....the announcers proclaimed that it's the reason why "David Eckstein is one of the greatest players to every play the game of baseball."

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Also, that explains why Cody Ross isn't quite as good as Eckstein.

The Padres announcers are in the bottom 5 and his comment is incredibly stupid. With that said, I don't think Eckstein did it on purpose. If he did it on purpose he would have being closer to where the ball landed to be able to make the double play. I was watching on the Giants telecast and that's what the Giants guys said and it makes sense. The Giants announcers are among my favorites.
