I have been pushing for Brett to get an opportunity all year long. Given what you have seen tonight, would you put him in the line-up every day over Bonifacio?

At the very least he deserves more playing time.

I think we will see BC in a straight platoon w/ Herms. He has proven to be better defensively. Herms better step up his SLG% and continue to walk at a high rate or will give away more ABs to BC.

While I don't disagree that, if only for the defensive implications, that he deserves more PT, but don't get excited just yet for his bat, even Bonifacio can have a good day or good week.

I'd be all about him in RF with Hermida in LF and Coghlan at 3B though.

I doubt that Hermida will lose any PT to Carroll.

I'd prefer carroll in CF though I could understand wanting the superior arm in RF

As I stated in the game thread and as I've stated for a couple months now, moving Coghlan to 3B, Hermida to LF, moving Cody to RF and putting whoever is best at the moment of a Carroll/De Aza/Amezaga until Maybin is ready is the best thing to do for this team, period.

I think the Marlins established they are not comfortable starting Coghlan at 3B (defensive liability). It would have made sense when Chris was called up he would see the majority of his time at 3B, but they inserted him into LF.

Reason I say RF is because I think that what we lose with Carroll in RF instead of CF will be gained in Cody in CF instead of RF, where he hasn't been great and he himself calls his worst position.

really, so Coghlan isn't a defensive liability in LF? A natural infielder with an arm that can barely reach the cutoff man isn't a liability?

He's not at all a defensive liability at 3B, they just didn't want to move Bonifacio from there.

3B is his natural position, he just doesn't have the bat of a 3B so they moved him to 2B.

He's a huge liability in LF though.

Why?

Cody is a better CF'er than he is a corner OF'er. Isn't he?

No, I agree he often takes a bad route to the ball in LF, but for whatever reason the Marlins felt he would be less of a liability in LF.

that makes absolutely no sense, considering the last time before the majors that Coghlan had played LF was at the age of 12, while he spent a good portion of his minor league time at 3B? No, no sense at all. Only sense would be that they love Bonifacio and will do anything to keep him in the lineup.

They didn't though. They even admitted that him at LF had only to do with wanting to at his offense and not caring at all about his defense. It has nothing to do with liability anywhere.

That's not what happened, at all.

At the time, Maybin was really struggling, we didn't have many options...

The Marlins made it clear that they would play Coghlan anywhere, just for the sake of getting his bat in there. He was something like 20 for his last 40, I believe, before his call up.

WOW! a double short of the cycle....that may help fredi's make up his mind. The guys is on fire...I'm lovin' it.

It's a fluke.

you're an A** hole, let cdy_0513 and the rest of the fans enjoy the success of one of our players and not have to listen to you nitpick a player when he is having a great game.

People were excited about Bonifacio the first week of the season.

Why am I an asshole? He stated his opinion...I stated mine.

You're sensitive.

and I stated my opinion, which is that you're an a** hole. Works two ways.

Fair enough.

You do understand why I said he was a fluke, though, right? Please say yes.

I understand why you would call it a fluke as hes never hit up here and usually lokks bad but hes never really been given the playing time hes getting now before, to my knowledge. Also didnt he hit in the minors? I could be way off there.

I agree that people are blowing this Carroll thing way out of proportion, but it is important to note that Carroll has some outstanding minor league numbers to his credit, something that Bonifacio never had.
