June 9, 200917 yr Great game by West, absolutely a great game One stat I would love to find out, what is the marlins record when Bonifacio is not in the lineup? 3-2 4-1 after tonight.

June 9, 200917 yr West gets my vote, he has been amazing so far. Our starting pitching in general has been outstanding the last couple of weeks, now if the offense could just find some consistency then we can go on a good run.
June 9, 200917 yr Just got home from the game and it was great. West was lights out and Brett Carroll was a spark plug today. Congrats to Brett for his 1st HR and Sean for his first Win! Its pretty crazy that BC and West got there 1st Homerun and Win against a first ballot Hall of Famer and its gonna be a game RJ should remember. SideNote: Today was the 50th win i've seen live of marlins baseball dating back to 2001 when i was 6 and i still have all thoose tickets to prove it
June 9, 200917 yr Randy Johnson will definitely remember this game... Down the line after he's retired, people will interview him and say, how was that 300th win? he'll say it was amazing, a priceless moment...then he'll crack a smile and jokingly say, "The funny thing is, my next outing? I got hammered by a rookie pitcher with a near no-hitter and some backup outfielder who hit his first big league bomb and almost hit for the cycle! Dontcha just love how baseball works?" ...ever hear Tommy Hutton tell old baseball stories of his playing time? He says things like that all the time. TONIGHT was one of those games for Randy Johnson...don't forget it Unit
June 9, 200917 yr Tough call, but West beats his idol to get his first win (299 to goooo!!!)... Is Fredi ever known for playing the hot hand/bat?

June 9, 200917 yr Great game for West. By the end of the season the rotation is going to end up being as good as everyone was predicting pre-season. On another note Freddie Gonzalez is a minor league manager and this team will never be successful with him at the helm. You can argue for taking West out tonight (though I don't think so) but it isnt just this one time. He's always doing things like this. A couple nights ago he took out J.J. and nearly lost the game. And who can forget his love affair with notorious gas cans like Pinto. Freddie stinks and I hope he's not around when the stadium is built.
June 9, 200917 yr I voted for West. Lets hope the starting pitching keeps this up as it can carry our club with its inconsistent offense.

Also, a 23-year-old rookie at 107 pitches did not need to go back there. Also our ace at 107 pitches, who's coming finally healthy after coming back from his second arm injury, didn't need to stay in that game, especially with a lefty, who hit him to .300/.364/.500 and was 2-3, coming up.

Fredi, thank you for the correction. I thought it looked funny the other way. That is why is said one could argue that West could have come out. Only because its his 4or5 start and he had never pitched even into the eighth inning but this magic number of 100 pitches is not a magic number. A pitcher with 100 hundred pitches after 5 0r 6 innings might be tired but after eight it is not a must to take the guy out. Plus J.J. had a three run lead and still looked strong. Leaving him in for one more hitter wasnt going to hurt him and he could do worse than Nunez giving up the home run that brought the game within one run. Like I said it isn't just one or two times. Fredi nearly always manges by the numbers. The only reason the Marlins have him is because he is a company man that will do what he is told.

Even the old-school numbers say to take Bonifacio out of the top of the lineup.
