June 9, 200917 yr Marlins defeat the Giants 4-0. West: 8 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO 3B: Carroll (1) HR: Carroll (1) SB: Coghlan (3)
June 9, 200917 yr Helms didn't do any better than Bonifacio offensively but at least he didn't commit any errors. Way to go Helms!
June 9, 200917 yr west is last season's volstad, if not better. Way too early to say this, but yes, he's been very good. Scouts say that West is more of a number 3 in MLB rotations. We'll see what happens when the league adjusts to him.
June 9, 200917 yr Chances Carroll gets the start tomorrow? I say slim-2-nun. Great game for him. We're facing Chris Carpenter tomorrow, so I agree. Expect to see Bonifacio back in there.
June 9, 200917 yr Chances Carroll gets the start tomorrow? I say slim-2-nun. Great game for him. And possibly risk keeping boni outta the lineup 2 nights in a row, i think not. West was nasty tonight so ill go with him. Good to see BC do well.
June 9, 200917 yr Chances Carroll gets the start tomorrow? I say slim-2-nun. Great game for him. Probably right. I'd give him another start though, no question. I believe a bench guy can "earn" another start with a great game. (unless you're subbing for Hanley or something...)
June 9, 200917 yr Chances Carroll gets the start tomorrow? I say slim-2-nun. Great game for him. On what has been a roller coaster ride of a season so far you have to continue to play who is hot. wheter he will still be tomorrow is anybody's guess, but he was today, so i think you've gotta keep him in until he shows he's not anymore. I know that there hasn't been anybody who has been so good that he can't be put on the bench for a day to give BC the opportunity to keep it going.
June 9, 200917 yr West for sure... Congrats to him on his 1st win! BC congrats on first big league bomb as well

I think Spike was more pointing out the fact that we don't play the hot hand, even when that hot hand would be replacing someone like Bonifacio.
June 9, 200917 yr Excellent game for West. I was sad when his no-no got broken up. That would've been amazing
June 9, 200917 yr I doubt Bonifacio would fare much better against Carpenter than Carroll. You know just as much as I do that it really has nothing to do with that. Bonifacio is an organization favorite, so he's going to continue to get chances, regardless. I highly doubt we see Carroll (or Helms, for that matter) in the lineup, tomorrow.

I was just saying how things ought to be, rather than how they are. (I "think" most everybody on here agrees)....my bad, i wasn't clear on what i meant.

June 9, 200917 yr Great game by West, absolutely a great game One stat I would love to find out, what is the marlins record when Bonifacio is not in the lineup?
June 9, 200917 yr Just a couple days ago I was saying that we'd never know what we have in Carroll cause he hasn't really gotten a real chance to hit. Now Fredi's giving him some chances and he is making the most of it. Great game for West too, his potential has been exciting for a while but there was very good reason to doubt he'd be ready to go. But so far West is elevating his game and hopefully he'll keep it up.
June 9, 200917 yr Tough choice. Carroll was great, but West just a little bit better. Let's keep rolling.
