When Would You Use Lindstrom?

Featured Replies

Wow, I'm stunned the overwhlming majority still wants him protecting leads.

I'm not. Lindstrom's always been a bit of a board favorite.

I would hope that performance would be the driver here and given that among the regular relievers he has the highest WHIP and OPS allowed and even the highest ERA I would think people would be apprehensive about having him protect leads. I guess not.

It's more of the, If something ain't broke, don't fix it kind of things.

Lindstrom hasn't broken down so don't take him out, yet.

Lindstroms been fine, he's pitched to situations. I didn't like that Phillies game he melted down in, but he was back from injury too soon and wasn't ready.

I wish he'd keep his ERA down, but if he's not losing it for us, he's fine.

He's 10x better then Kevin Gregg regardless of how he gives us a heart attack.

Matt Lindstrom: I don't Drink, I don't Dip, I don't Smoke, and I don't do Cardiologists and Emergency Rooms any favors. Join me in making this an Elderly Free South Floria.

i don't think he's been better than gregg. lindstrom has been shaky this season as gregg was shaky last season. i would take the 07 gregg over this season's lindstrom.

but it doesn't matter what we think. bonifacio will continue to play at 3rd and lindstrom will continue to be the closer and nunez will continue to come in to get him out of jams.

Getting him out of jams? Getting out of jams means he doesn't allow any runners to score. So far, he hasn't done that good. Getting him out of jams....hahahahaha that's awesome.

Would anyone be in favor of alternating Leo and Matt in the closer role and set up role.

This might work and it saves both of there arms as Meyer and we he gets back Kiko can also be used in the set up role.

I am really scratching my head over what to do with Lindy. He's been...serviceable in the role, but it appears like he will never be consistant, and be somewhat of a cardiac threat. I was thinking about maybe switching him in and out, riding the hot hand, so to speak. But I have no clue.

I have the Perfect Solution to our closer problems.

Every game you designate one of either Nunez, Callero and Meyer as the Set Up Man and then you use the other 2 with Lindstrom in the 9th to pitch to one batter each. This way the batters won't know what to expect from a pitcher and we should breathe a lot easier in the 9th. :cool

Bonifacio's speed vs Lindstrom's velocity. Who wins in a fight?

Man if there was a way to package both them guys, and trade them anywhere for anything in return!

I mean I don't care if it's a kids meal at McD's ill take anything for them right now! They could send Loria, and his family play off tickets in return for them!

I mean let's be honest nobody in their right minds would trade a starting pitcher, and a power hitting LF for Emilio Bonifacio.... Oh wait.

Never mind...

Some of you guys are so biased towards the marlins and their players that your evaluations of the players are just awwwful. How could anyone possibly want Lindstrom to close out games.

I think this thread is just bad timing. I know for me, the only two guys I would want "closing" are both injured.

Marlins fans don't want Lindstrom as their closer.

Cubs fans don't want Gregg as their closer.

Solution - trade Lindstrom for Marmol. We get a new closer in Marmol and the Cubs get a new closer in Lindstrom
