Third baseman Matt Dominguez, the Marlins’ 2007 first-round pick (12th overall), has been promoted from Class-A Jupiter to Double-A Jacksonville. Dominguez will join the Suns today. After going 39 for his first 176 (.221) with nine doubles, two homers and 13 RBI, Dominguez from June 1 through Sunday batted .298 (61 for 205) with 16 doubles, nine homers and 40 RBI.

Dominguez opened the season as the Marlins' No. 6 prospect according to Baseball America. He's a good bet to play in the Arizona Fall League, where Marlins' third base coach Bo Porter will manager the Mesa club.

He has absolutely crushed A+ June and July. But this seems a bit premature.

They are really fast tracking Stanton and Dominguez. I hope they can handle it.

Jacksonville's lineup is loaded

1B - Morrison

3B - Dominguez

LF - Petersen

CF - Cousins

RF - Stanton

Wasnt expecting this.

I said yesterday in the thread where postgames for AA are posted that Dominguez is hitting the ball a ton lately, but he still has a few things to correct before he was ready for AA. Guess management felt that he was ready right now. AA is pretty stacked in the lineup right now, Dominguez, Stanton, Morrison. Just go to Jacksonville and you will see a sneak preview of our 2011 Marlins lineup.

Just do well in AA this year and next year, and then we'll see you on the Marlins in 2011.

Always good to see one of our top prospects climbing up the ladder

Pretty much this but if he does well in AA in 2010 I would like to see him in September along with Stanton and possibly Morrison.

Hopefully this isn't a premature move, but I have confidence in management's decision here. As most of you have said, I just hope he can handle it.

Defensively he appears ready, I was hoping he would stay at Jupiter just to build on this season he's started to come into his own. Good Luck in Jax, I really got to get up there to see the Suns!!!

I'm not really encouraged by this to be honest. Stanton is a physical freak who really needed to be challenged by AA pitchers to learn. But Dominguez is not a special prospect despite being a good one, and I think staying in Jupiter to see if he could keep riding his hot streak was probably the better move. A good month does not make a good season.

The Suns season ends on September 7th. So I think it can only help Dominguez to get a month's worth of at-bats or so in AA to prepare him for the AFL.

Actually, two months. He did really well in June and killed July. It couldn't hurt to get him ABs in Double A.

Hes been on fire since mid-May.

This will just be a preview for Matt as he gets ready for the Arizona league...it is great that Bo Porter is going to manage that team so he gets a first-hand look at one of the future marlins up close and personal

Awesome, maybe I'll see if I can make it out to tonight's game.
