Does anyone know why cameron maybin is out of the zephyrs lineup for the 3rd straight day? Injured or is he getting called up?

I know he got ejected for the second time this year a week or so ago maybe he got a suspension? It would be nice to have him up here though. I'm guessing if he came up he'd play vs lefties right?

bad back

same with tucker

He wasn't, I was just speculating.

i hope he comes up hes really fun to watch.

agreed

If by fun to watch, you mean looking worst than Bonifacio(at the plate, and in the field), then you are correct.

He was a poor excuse for a baseball player earlier this season.

He made Bonifacio and Hermida look like "studs".

Last September, he was spectacular.

Hopefully, that is the Maybin we see when he is recalled back up to the big team.

I don't really want Maybin in the majors until the September call-up's. He did not help us at the beginning of the year and I like Coghlan Cody and Hermida. They have been producing for us lately.

i hope he comes up hes really fun to watch.

Exactly. He made Bonifacio look good. And that my friends is hard to do

I hope he does, so hermidas @ss gets out of the lineup

thats a little harsh . the guy has played how many mlb games ? give'em a little break. plus i didnt mean to start full time maybe just a game here and there and maybe pinch running. plus i dont think maybin enjoyed hitting 8th . boni all year was hitting 1 or 2.

Maybin is one of our youngest players (22). I just don't where he would fit in if he gets called back up. He usually plays center for us and if we were to put him in right (assuming hermida continues to struggle) then he would have to adjust. So i just don't see where he can fit unless one of our starters in the outfield takes a day off.

When people say to bring Maybin over Hermida, they mean to put him in center, and move Cody to RF.

The way Cody has been covering CF that may be a little hard to do.

Seriously, Cody has looked like he deserves a Gold Glove.

But do you suppose Maybin plays RF?

Has he ever played RF?

I know CF is supposed to be the hardest, but you're also getting mostly straight angles.

And reading the way a ball slices to RF might be different.

I have only played LF and RF in my day, wasn't too great in RF.

But all that was fixed by moving to pitcher.(I'm talking little league...lol)

Beats me. But Maybin will be roaming CF when he does get the call. It wasn't his defense that was the problem since last Sept. He looked like a totally different player last Sept in the field than he did before ST broke last year. I would think they move Cody to RF, but that is one tough decision that I am glad I don't have to make.

As long as Maybin of last September shows up on offense and defense, then it's a great problem to have.

Because then you would have a Gold Glove caliber CF in CF, and another one in RF.

As long as Maybin doesn't look like a lost child in CF like he did toward the end of his stint earlier this season.

what are you talking about when he said he was looking lost? he seemed pretty good to me.

When maybin was up here at the start of the season he seemed like he was guessing at the plate and was taking strikes down the middle and swinging at balls in the dirt outside. He also had a few mistakes on the bases and in the field. Not physical but mental.

There were a couple of plays in CF right before he got sent down that were horrible.

Lack of hustle, and lack of concentration.

He took bad routes and it didn't even look like he was himself.

Tommy even mentioned it during a game once.

It appeared as if he was letting his struggles at the plate get to him mentally that it affected his defense.

I'm only speaking about toward the end of his stint.

He didn't look good at all out there.

Plays that he normally could make in his sleep weren't being made.

Last September, Maybin thrived in the leadoff role, this season he was primarily batting 8th, seeing few good pitches. Coghlan is okay, but Maybin is a true leadoff guy. Call him up, bat him first, moved Cody to right field, and get Hermida out of the lineup. Herms has cost us so many games this year with his lazy defense and exceptional ability to leave 2 or 3 guys on base every time he's at the plate. Any move that gets Hermida on the bench is fine by me,

That's what I was chalking it up to. Hard enough for an experienced player to not take his ABs into the field with him, let alone a young rookie bent on impressing and keeping his job.

Agreed, for a rarity. Another fine example of exagerration. If he was leaving 2 or 3 guys on base every time he came up we would have guys hitting around the .500 mark.

Some see his play as lazy. The best word I can come up with is "lackadaisical." At the plate and in the field. Just none of that extra umph that other players show. Don't know how else to explain it.
