November 13, 200322 yr how don't i get it? Webb had a better year. Podsednick had a better year. Willis won it because of one thing: hype. No. The hype stopped a long time ago. He won because he deserved to win. I guess only a Marlin fan, or a real baseball purist would know what I mean by that statement.

November 14, 200322 yr Author how don't i get it? Webb had a better year. Podsednick had a better year. Willis won it because of one thing: hype. do you think people just picked willis out of a hat and were like "we're gonna give this kid hype". hell no he earned that hype.
November 14, 200322 yr I told EVERYONE out here in Arizona that Brandon would not win the ROTY and nobody believed me...of course, they're not speaking to me anymore either... :lol I have said before that I know Brandon...this is true. I watched him pitch AAA ball last season and got to know him off the field. I have lost my respect for him now because of his behavior :confused :thumbdown :angry

Just look at the #s.

Just look at the #s. exactly my point. he had a good first half. you guys make it seem like he sucked the whole year. you're holding the second half against him and forgetting what he did the first half. he might have had a bad second half but his contribution to the team all year makes up for it. and plus, Webb didn't have the best second half either!!!!!!!!! :angry
November 15, 200322 yr No, Barry doesn't talk to the media because he is an a-hole Amen to that, Juanky *high-fives* I don't know why GiantsIn04 even wastes his time posting here...nobody CARES what he thinks and all he does is bring BONDS into every single topic, it seems! He ought to take his Bonds-loving where it belongs...to the GIANTS board... Now, back to the matter at hand here...Media hype actually helped show people acrossed the country just who Dontrelle Willis is. The exposure gained him a fan following and more support for the Marlins...especially during the World Series, when all those pissed-off Cubs, Giants, and Red Sox fans were wanting to be in the Marlins' and Yankees' shoes...in the Fall Classic. Dontrelle turned the fans on their ear with his pitching style and his finesse...his winning record and yes, not too bad with a bat himself. Brandon Webb has lost respect of many fans out there who thought maybe he could have edged out DW to win the ROTY. I, myself, got sick really fast of all the Brandon Webb hype out here in AZ...probably because I know him and because it's ALL I heard, day in and day out...it was nice to have two other candidates to hear about and watch. I am GLAD that Dontrelle won the ROTY

If you look at the WHOLE year, Webb had a better year. the thing is, Webb deserved second, but not to Willis
November 16, 200322 yr Webb did very well but not as good as Willis. Willis carried this team to the playoffs when 3 of our pitchers were injured. Webb did carry his team also when Johnson and Schilling were injured but they didnt go to the playoffs. Thats the diffrence.... DW went 14-6 with a 3.30 ERA. Thats just incredible.

November 16, 200322 yr Author yeah, I do agree that Webb just needs to shut the f*** up we agree on something? *gasp* lol no but really, it was a poor decision on his part to publically say something like that
November 16, 200322 yr yeah, I do agree that Webb just needs to shut the f*** up we agree on something? *gasp* lol no but really, it was a poor decision on his part to publically say something like that Just look at Podsednick. He is more deserving than either and he's not being a little b*tch about it.

If he was in second place, I still would have been mad of course, but I would have a tad bit more understanding considering he was close.
November 16, 200322 yr I'm glad Willis won (even though it should have gone to Podsednick) because he's so likeable
November 16, 200322 yr Author I'm glad Willis won (even though it should have gone to Podsednick) because he's so likeable yeah What I love about him is that he's so down to earth. He'll sign everyone's autograph and does it with a smile on his face and does it out of kindness, not because it makes him look good. Also, he's just so humble...always giving the credit to his teamates and thanking god and his mom. Incredibly mature for a rookie.

I saw it first hand during BP when the Marlins played at Pac Bell I just hope everything doesn't get to his head
