November 12, 200322 yr Author For all of you people trying to be the Anti-Homer and voice of reason among the "less informed", saying Webb had a better year can just stop. You are entitled to your opinion for sure, but come on. Any one player and especially a rookie that can spark fan interest and give momentum to his team the way Willis did, deserves an MVP if you ask me. Screw the numbers! They are not that different. If Webb did that for his team or Podsednik for his, they would deserve it just the same. But the fact is they didn't. Neither one, especially Webb did nothing spectacular.... Prove me wrong. Well is Dontrelle real famous and popular because he got like 8 hits this year? No. Its the smile, the windup, and the domination. And in the 2nd half of the year it was usually the smile and the windup. But I want to punch Brandon Webb. He says Dontrelle did nothing --- nothing but pitch in a playoff race(at the top of the race). It wasn't like he was getting rocked every night. His win loss record % was almost as good in the 2nd half as Webb's was for the season! Thank you as well :thumbup Exactly. It's all media-driven. Like I said, he got the media's attention for a reason. And it wasn't just the damn legkick.

November 12, 200322 yr I like Willis, he seems like a much nicer guy than Webb and seems to be down to earth. Plus he's local. But Webb had the better year. Willis had a great first half but was mediocre the second half. Willis will probably have a better career (he reminds me of Marichal and not just because of the leg kick), but Webb had a better year

November 12, 200322 yr The reason why Dontrelle won 4 more games is because of his team's ability to score. Plus his ability to help himself out with his own bat. Something Webb cannot do. if pitcher's bats mattered, then Hampton would have won a Cy Young If your opinion mattered a Giant would win everything And for the record, I can't hold it against Webb for speaking his mind. I don't agree with him, but he can talk all he wants. Looking like an a-hole is the risk you take. But I prefer when athletes speak their mind as opposed to not speaking to the media at all (Barry) or dropping a cliche every which way (everyone else). But of course, no one in the media will jump on Webb because he didn't go to the University of Miami. the reason why Barry doesn't talk to the media is because they spin every thing he says Anyone else see the irony here? November 13, 200322 yr I think Webb wins it by the numbers, but Dontrelle just did so much more for this team than can be seen in numbers. I think he was the most valuable rookie to his team and that wins it in my book.
