I really hate to say it but we really do have bandwagon fans.

 

 

Bandwagon fan? WTH? I don't think you could be any more non-band wagon than a guy who has followed the team since 1993. Sure, I've seen two world championships but there have been some pretty lean years as well and I didn't just hop on when it looked like a fun thing to do.

 

Just because I get upset and ticked off at seeing my team absolutely blow doesn't make me a bandwagon fan. I've just seen the same act from 2004-2009, the really pathetic play down the stretch, and its very disheartening. We don't have a culture of winning in South Florida, what we do have is a culture of good enough- as in we're good enough to be competitive until the stretch run grinds down but not good enough to actually make the playoffs.

 

I'm upset by this team's play because its clearly evident that we won't be going anywhere this year, and with the mentality of this organization it will probably be a long time before they actually go anywhere. That's why our September's always really upset me.

 

And yes, I'm rooting for football season to start so it can distract me from the disappointment that is my favorite baseball team. That doesn't mean that I don't care about the Marlins, its just means that I care so much that I need something to take my mind off their struggles. And I've sat through every game of 1-15 Dolphins seasons, 4-12 Dolphins seasons, everything.

 

While I could really care less about how I'm perceived as a sports fan (as if people who are "true" fans deserve some type of award or something), I really think being called a bandwagon fan is inaccurate.

it is rather disappointing that, while going into the season the rotation was supposed to be a strength, only one pitcher has performed well with any kind of consistency.

 

 

Quite a few baseball analysts predicted Volstad would have a "back to earth" type season and I disagreed pretty strongly. Chalk up another fail for me!

You are so right, that is why i post very little, their are many fans who are happy no matter how the team is playing, and when you say something negative, you are not a fan, it seem like we are happy every september saying we knock the mets and other teams out of the playoff, it is time we are in the playoff.

The main thing I take from the struggles of pitchers such as Volstad, Sanchez, Miller etc is how vital it is that we give JJ a multi year contract this offseason.
