September 23, 200916 yr MARLINS *Unveil date - January 1st (1/1/10) *Changing road front from "FLORIDA" to "MARLINS" I think I like it. F*** Florida. It's all about the marlins. Other changes--- METS *Unveil date - November 27th (11/27) *The Mets will be replacing the current Mets home white w/ryl pinstripe jersey with a new one which will be an alternate home vest jersey in an exciting new color, the MET Black will be the primary home now. Possibly this (Option choices in fan survey in may) Update on Mets unis: I've just been told there has been a change of heart with the Mets, they are not dropping the Pinstripes (Thank God), however, they are replacing the white with a cream color. Which in my opinion is nice. Gives it an old time look more like the wools. And they are keeping the black shadows. Cant have everything. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/mets/2009/09/nats-2-mets-1-five-to-go.html TWINS *Unveil date - November 16th (11/16) *Slightly updated wordmark on all jerseys, new patches & a new throwback RAYS *Unveil date - November 19th (11/19) *Cool new alternate jersey, new color Possibly Baby Blue Alternate Jersey with Baby Blue Crown, Navy Bill GIANTS *Unveil date - January 1st (1/1/10) *New alternate jersey, new color Possibly Orange Jersey with Black wordmark MARLINS *Unveil date - January 1st (1/1/10) *Changing road front from "FLORIDA" to "MARLINS" BREWERS *Unveil date - February 14th (2/14/10) *New alternate jersey Possibly a move towards baby blue jerseys for throwback fridays.
September 23, 200916 yr I don't like the change because having the name of the city (or state) on the road grey jerseys is more traditional but I fully understand why they are making the switch. If the team is going to be dropping the label "Florida" in 2012, they are probably just trying to smooth the transition by de-emphasizing it.
September 23, 200916 yr i dont like that at all....its not traditional. now every jersey will say "Marlins"....thats just stupid.
September 23, 200916 yr Author source? Can't disclose---j/k. It's a combination of me reading many sources, reading uniwatch, taking part in the mets survey, and someone helping piece it all together on sportlogos.net. If it's wrong, I'll youtube a shot of me getting kicked in the nuts. The twins already have the new font up on their new stadium, just no official announcement. The rays said last year they will add 2 alternates over 2 years. The breweres players did not like the friday throwback jerseys. the mets had a survey asking "which do you prefer" in may, so they wanted fan opinion, which I liked. Too bad they don't ditch the black. The giants are due for an alternate based on the fact that they don't have one, and they have a good young team that an alternate will sell tons of.
September 23, 200916 yr i heard marlins say their change jersey in 2012 why do change it 2010 and again 2012

September 24, 200916 yr While I dont mind removing the word Florida, for transitional purposes... wouldn't they need to remove the F from the caps since it also stands for Florida? I guess that's too drastic of a change for now.

I guess that's too drastic of a change for now. I think you might have answered your own question. There is no sense in undertaking a massive rebranding of the franchise if they are going to be changing everything again in 2012. Obviously the team will still be named "Florida" in the short term and they won't be replacing the team logos. The transition on the road greys is very simple because I imagine they will just take the script from the current home/alternate jerseys and just place it on the greys. It's a very simple switch that eases the transition and does not require the team to use unnecessary effort in changing the team logos for only two seasons.
September 24, 200916 yr Yeah, I agree with everything pinguino has said in this thread. Well, at least it's not that big a deal and we'll finally have matching road uni's (since we use the black alternate like 50% of the time). Also, at least we won't be the only team who does this since the Angles basically always did this (I think they've had their State/City on there a couple short times in their history).

Personally, I could care in the least. I really don't like the name change in 2012, but that's the way it's going to be. May as well get the ball rolling. While at the game last night a friend asked me if I saw anything strange in all the paperwork for our season ticket renewals. I had no idea what he was talking about. He said not once on all those pages was the word "Florida" used. The team was always refered to as the Marlins. So apparently they are already de-emphasizing it.
