December 10, 200916 yr http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/newsstand/discussion/mlb_royals_release_mike_jacobs/ The Royals got the last day of the Winter Meetings off to a fast start, releasing designated hitter Mike Jacobs and lefty relief pitcher John Bale early Thursday morning. Jacobs, obtained from the Marlins in a trade for reliever Leo Nunez, hit 19 home runs with 61 RBIs and a .228 average after a .247/32/93 line in 2008 in the National League. Jacobs got off to a good start in his first 36 games, batting .270 with nine homers and 23 RBIs, but fell off rapidly. He began the season as the starting first baseman but quickly lost that job to Billy Butler and went into a designated hitter role
December 10, 200916 yr wait, let me try. well it might be okay to platoon him with .... nah, I can't do it with a straight face.
December 11, 200916 yr i wouldn't mind him on a deal worth the minimum. just as a guy who could come off the bench and hit a homerun to get us back in the game. i wouldn't want to see him be a consistent starter at 1st again.
December 12, 200916 yr I liked big Jake while he was here. He could be our big lefty bat off the bench. If he comes cheap (and not to start), then what the hell. Do it!
December 12, 200916 yr i think we should bring #17 back we havent signed nick johnson yet and dan uggla will be traded so we are going to need some power i know he is not the best with the glovebut hes not the worst sign him to a minor league deal its a low risk high reward kind of contract.
December 12, 200916 yr Look, he's a negative player. I wouldn't even take him if he paid us. He's bad. When he plays he makes the team worse than when he doesn't play. I want nothing to do with Johnny Bravo. :jacobs
