January 16, 201016 yr I guess it's getting close to that time of year again to discuss--so is there any chance that Comcast in Tallahassee will finally give in a broadcast Marlins games televised on SunSports??
January 16, 201016 yr No... that's not Comcast's decision. It's SunSports decision. And North Florida/Central Florida is Rays territory and South Florida is Marlins territory.

It's up to the cable provider if they want to buy the package, not the station. I'm also curious if Gainesville will get games on SunSports again.
January 16, 201016 yr No... that's not Comcast's decision. It's SunSports decision. And North Florida/Central Florida is Rays territory and South Florida is Marlins territory. Technically, North and Central FL are claimed by both the Marlins and Rays. For this reason, if you are in the "home" territory and do not get the regional broadcaster of games (and FSN/Sun make the two channels a package deal in order to get Marlins and Rays games on Sunshine), you are blacked out from Extra Innings and MLB.com's streaming. Orlando had this problem for 10+ years w/ Brighthouse; we always had Sun but refused to put on FSN (initially was Sports Channel FL before FSN bought the assets). All games were blacked out on Sun. However, once the Magic moved half their games to FSN, that put the pressure on Brighthouse to finally cave in. What I'm interested in seeing is whether with the Marlins chaning to the Miami Marlins, if they are going to drop their claim on the rest of the state since the So. FL market (rightfully so) is all they seem to care about for marketing purposes.
January 23, 201016 yr Comcast has to buy the extra 55 games to air them. They will have 95 games (in HD if so broadcast) in 2010 as of right now. Contact Comcast and tell them you want the 55 games. As for the future, the Marlins territory of Florida and southern Alabama will remain the same because DirecTV, Dish Network, AT&T U-Verse, and Verizon FiOS air all 150 games in that territory. Plus, most cable companies air at least 95 games with Bright House Networks and Cox airing all 150 in most of their areas.
January 23, 201016 yr Wow, a Cape sighting! Yeah, I flushed him out of the bushes in the Rich Waltz thread.:lol The OP could get all the games with one of these(ignore the 2 smaller dishes):

So Cox digital cable is airing the same amount of games they aired last season? I have Cox digital cable in Gainesville and I get most of the Marlins games but sometimes they black out random games for no particular reason.

So if you call them and let them know you want it, and enough people in and show their interest, they might purchase it.
January 24, 201016 yr Would anyone mind if a made a poll on the main Marlins forum to see how many Marlins fans we have on the board that live in Tallahassee. I'm thinking maybe we'd all call on a certain day or whenever we can get around to it. Maybe if they get a lot of calls in a short period of time they'd consider giving Tallahassee the 150 games.
January 24, 201016 yr It is not only Comcast in Tallahassee, but anywhere outside of Metro South Florida. The Jacksonville, Tallahassee/Panama City, Lake City/Live Oak, Central and SW Florida areas of Comcast are still with only 95 games. I made this site to help you know who to contact: http://fsnflorida.blogspot.com/
January 24, 201016 yr Yeah, I noticed last season that Rays games here in Fort Myers on Comcast were on Sun Sports, but still no Marlins. I've been thinking of switching to Satellite so I can see them all and then watch some Cricket because I'm originally from England. Then I found out that I'd need a second satellite for international programming so, once again, I'm not sure.

January 25, 201016 yr Do Comcast's competitors (satellite and Verizon) carry the extra Marlins games on those other regions in Florida? That's the only way you will be able to convince them. At least the way it is up here, Comcast is terrible at expanding it's coverage.

February 11, 201016 yr I had to switch from DTV to Comcast a few months ago and i live in Pembroke Pines. Do these 55 games thing apply to this area too? I will not be very happy if its true. Can anybody help me out? Thanx
February 11, 201016 yr After a long time reading these forums, I wanted to join now that my son is also a big Marlins fan and would enjoy this board too. A question for you all: I am getting uverse installed next week here in St Augustine. Good idea or bad for getting my marlins games? We got a lot with comcast. No MLB network on uverse but as long as I get my games ... Looking forward to marlins-suns in April. Thanks all for the good info all this time
February 11, 201016 yr I don't know if its a good idea or not but I do know that UVerse gets all the regional FSN channels but it shows all programming on those channels EXCEPT for live regional games. That's totally moronic. There's no reason to have those channels other than to be able to watch live regional games from other regions. Well there's other reasons but they're not worth paying extra for those channels for.
May 26, 201016 yr Marlins coverage in Tallahasee since the first week has been simply orgasmic. Rays have only been on Sun, Marlins of Fox. Haven't missed a game in weeks.
May 27, 201016 yr Marlins coverage in Tallahasee since the first week has been simply orgasmic. Rays have only been on Sun, Marlins of Fox. Haven't missed a game in weeks. Ha! But I concur. The first week the listings lied on Fox Sports Florida, but ever since that time it's been Marlins on FSN and Rays on Sun. And there's nothing wrong with flipping to the Rays game in between innings. I'm glad Comcast hasn't effed with the Marlins telecasts in Tally lately. I can't afford to watch games at Ale House every other night.

May 27, 201016 yr I have Dish Network in Miami and that's basically what I have. I have Rays on Sun and Marlins on FS, but I think Rays get preference. In the first week, when the Magic were still playing I would see that on FS and the Rays on Sun.
