The trade that thankfully didn't happen...

Even if he was fat...he was still a tremendous hitter. He could've continued eating all the twinkies he wanted/wants as long as he produces the way he has, imo.

Noone should disagree.

Thank you.

Run Prevention, MLB's new OPS begs to differ.

He's in the AL now, eating himself off off first base with a fat contract too.

Anybody remember Mo Vaughn---Miggy isn't as bad, but he was getting there.

Your hate of Miggy is blinding you. He had weight issues and alcohol issues - but that only makes what he managed to achieve so far that much more impressive. He seems to be trying to turn his life around, and he looks like he has lost weight during the offseason.

I have no doubt, barring some kind of terrible injury, that Miguel Cabrera will finish his career with Hall of Fame numbers. I'm just glad I got to see him play in a Marlins uniform.

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. It also doesn't help your "argument" that he's not much bigger than he was 2 years ago.

A trade that will never happen, but good to read:

"His (Pujols') current contract, which runs through this season with a club option for 2011, provides him limited no-trade protection. Each fall, he provides a list of teams to which he can be dealt, and on Monday he listed Florida (Marlins), Houston and the two Los Angeles teams as among the destinations he would accept."

If Cabrera comes back the only option for him is 3B. :-)

Haha imagine Hanley-Pujols-Stanton in the middle of the order

We'd definitely have to give up Stanton in this trade.

Just an observation. If nothing else comes from this spring we wont go through another season of teams attempting to hijack Mike Stanton in every trade that's being discussed.

Those days are over with the national exposure he and the Marlins have received this spring. It makes it much easier for the front office to just say "no" (politely laughing off the caller's demands) and to start real negotiations from there. No more of the Pittsburghs' of the world killing a deal for a player because we wouldn't throw in some young guy in A ball.

You can't get much more untouchable these days than Mike Stanton. And I think by the end of spring training every GM in baseball, if they don't already, will understand that.
