May 9, 201016 yr Still don't regret this trade as we wouldn't have been able to sign Miguey or Dontrelle and at the time Maybin and Miller had a chance to be great we also got a great MR pitcher in Burke Badenhop. I still believe Cameron and Andrew could be All Stars in this league in 2 or 3 years.
May 9, 201016 yr Trading them was the right move it just seems we missed on the prospects we traded for. Lefties take a while to get their act together so maybe Miller will figure it out. Maybin I'm not so sure about. I think he should try to work with/ learn from Hanley for his hitting. Heck he should see if he could get some help from McGwire and Pujols who work out at the same ST facility as us.

People have a right to have lost hope on Andrew Miller for the last two seasons, he doesn't seem fixable. Maybin could very well become an all star caliber CFer, but it surely seems like (in hindsight) the Marlins made the wrong decision in taking the Tigers offer over the Dodgers offer.
May 9, 201016 yr matt kemp would look so good in our outfield :crying Rihanna would look so good in our bleachers :whistle
May 9, 201016 yr what were some of the other proposals we had to choose from? It would be interesting what these guy were worth a couple years ago.
May 9, 201016 yr Author From what I remember there were other deals from the Angels and Dodgers... The big names from the Angels were Santana and Hendrick The big names from the Dogers were Kemp and Billingworth But again these were only rumors

May 9, 201016 yr Seriously, if somebody is going to make fun of not taking a certain trade, at least know the players that were involved. The name's Chad Billingsley. And btw, the details of those trade offers have been gone over quite a bit, both on this board and in the marlins media.
May 9, 201016 yr honestly can you really doubt our front office at this point? This may have been a miss, but this happens when you trade proven talent for prospects. Honestly this front office has 2 World Series rings, how many other front offices can claim that?(Yankees, Red Sox, and Marlins (What is different than the others))

May 9, 201016 yr To think, we were offered John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Gio Gonzalez and Josh Fields the same day that we traded Cabrera & Willis away.
May 9, 201016 yr To think, we were offered John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Gio Gonzalez and Josh Fields the same day that we traded Cabrera & Willis away. I hear it was Batman and Robin, The Hulk, Captain America and Wolverine, and I stick by that source. :brigginbounce

Yep, and even though it's cheap, the FO still fields a team that either comes close to .500 or over .500, like the last two years. And a new stadium and ugly uniforms to go with it and the name change.

I would say half a ring. Dombrowski built most of that 2003 team.

I would say half a ring. Dombrowski built most of that 2003 team. Though Beinfest deserves credit for getting that team over the hump. Amazingly, thats my strongest criticism of him with this current (since 2006) crop of talent. Still, it takes a couple right moves and a little bit of luck to take a team with potential and turn it into a WS champ.
May 10, 201016 yr It will probably go down as one of the most lopsided trades in history. Right up there with Babe Ruth for cash.

They got Pierre, Urbina, Miggy and Dontrelle. But since that trade, other than Stanton, the record is so-so at best and pathetic compared to what the Rays FO has done.
May 11, 201016 yr Dombrowski found Cabrera. Dombrowski stole him out from under the Yankees back in 1999. Beinfest merely called him up. Beinfest, however, was responsible for Pudge, Encarnacion, Redman, and Conine, who are a couple of guys you left out.
