Official Dobb's Dudes Fan Club Thread

Because he's left-handed, I don't think that Dobbs was ever a "dark horse" to make the team.

Hmmmm

Had a good '08, but '09 and '10 were sub par with '10 being pretty bad, signed a minor league contract which gives no guarantees, Baker was penciled in ahead of him for the lefty off the bench (some even had Wise ahead of him), didn't clinch that spot til very late in ST (read the article on him at marlins.com), and I never saw anyone post anything about him probably making the team.

Don't know what your definition of a dark horse is, but that pretty much fills my list. Then of course, you probably knew he was going to get a roster slot before ST started and can show the posts you made confirming that statement.

I'll wait.

I'd say his selection only comes as a surprise to those who thought there was a likely possibility that Dominguez makes the opening day roster. And Dobbs had a more impressive resume than Wise did, which is of course in addition to the fact that it would have been likely that Wise making the roster meant that Cousins wouldn't. Dobbs was certainly never a lock, but I'd only say he's a "dark horse" if you had reasonable confidence in Dominguez's bat or thought that the Marlins would do something silly and rush him. Otherwise Dobbs' only rival was Baker, who couldn't even play the field.

And not everyone has your immaturity to give a damn about who predicted what. You just love patting yourself on the back.

Plenty of others thought he'd make it.
