So how patient is Edwin going to be with Omar?

Recommended Posts

Edwin seems like a kinda stubborn manager. Does he think this team is winning early on because of the line up? I mean, having an automatic out hitting second is fantastic.

For now, the line up should be, in my opinion:

Bonifacio

Coghlan

Hanley

Sanchez

Stanton

Dobbs

Buck

Infante

pitcher

When Morrison gets back, you can move guy around again, but for the love god, WHY SO STUBBORN?????

We are scoring runs, our 4-9 has been very productive, personally i think the current lineup has been fine.

It's not as if hitting Bonifacio first sounds any better...

He's hitting the ball as well as anyone else....

Based on that, Hanley shouldn't be hitting 3rd, either.

With Bonifacio, if it's working, why mess with it? Everyone knows that he's not a very good hitter. It's not as if we'd be moving up the clearly better hitter or something.

If there's a lineup change, I wish Edwin would consider batting Bonifacio 9th. That way, when he gets on base, he's getting on base for the top of the order, instead of the pitcher. Managing against LaRussa, as well...great series to try it!

When LoMo gets back, I'd like to see something like this:

Hanley

Coghlan

LoMo

Gaby

Stanton

Dobbs/Buck

Buck/Helms/Infante

Infante/Bonifacio

Pitcher

Hanley seemed to get out of slumps when he was batting 1st for some times, so I'm wondering if maybe this would be something that could work here.

I agree his lineup is terrible, he has a hitter hitting .300 with an almost .400 OBP batting 8th!?! WHO does that?

IMO the lineup should be

Bonifacio

Infante

Coghlan

Stanton

Sanchez

Ramirez

Dobbs

Buck

pitcher

Stanton should always be before our best hitter, a pitcher should never want to try and pitch around Stanton. Putting Gaby/LoMo after Stanton puts pressure on the pitcher to throw strikes at Stanton to not want to face Gaby/LoMo. Rookies should not be put in situations where they will be pitched around, that does not help them time strikes from major league pitchers.

We can all agree that Stanton has had almost nothing good to hit all year. And the few times he does get a good pitch usually he is completely fooled by it.

I don't get why Edwin dropped Mike from clean up so fast but has left Hanley who looks worse everyday at the plate batting 3rd for a month now.

in 36 PA in the cleanup spot Stanton has 6 hits 4 doubles. 0 HR, 3 RBI and an OBP of .250

in 34 PA in the 5 hole, Stanton has 9 hits, 1 double, 1 triple, 3 HR, 7 RBI and an OBP of .382

mind u a very small sample size, but he's hitting better 5th and has looked a lot more comfortable at the plate. and its not like gaby is doing a bad job there

Lets get nuts:

Coghlan

Hanley

LoMo

Gaby

Stanton

Dobbs

Buck

Boni

Why not use Infante as a super utility guy and give him spot starts all over the field? Seemed to be where he was most effective last year with the Braves

Like you stated the sample size is rather small and Gaby will do good batting in any slot. Stanton started out slow last year also, it looks like he needs time to get his timing right. I also dont think him looking more comfortable has anything to do with his spot in the lineup. I feel he has just seen more pitches and is getting his timing down. He will see a ton more hittable pitches at cleanup and that is ultimately what we want to see him get.

Interesting lineup, but why put Boni so far down? He is hitting the ball extremely well why give him less at bats?

I just like him there. He's not going to hit for power and drive in a ton of runs.. and if he has a high BA, might as well use him to turn the lineup over.

Erick, as far as track records go, I understand what you're saying. I understand that Dobbs and Boni aren't going to hit like this all season but also don't believe 3B and 2B should have locked in starters like the other 6 positions

TRACK RECORDS...they exist.

So where do you draw the line? How long will he have to prove himself to get higher in the batting order?

What does what he did last year have to do with this year? He is hitting the ball well move him up and reap the benefits.

The reason why Infante was a super utility for the Braves was because they had the likes of Martin Prado, Chipper Jones, etc. on their team.

We don't have proven starters at every position; Infante has to play 2B because he's our best option at 2B.

If Infante doesn't start everyday, now you have guys like Cousins/Petersen playing more in LF because (at least I assume), Bonifacio would have to move over to 2B.

This would be a cool idea for next season, if we were able to sign a starting 2B, Dominguez makes the team at 3B, and everyone's healthy + Infante re-signs.

He hasn't even reached 100 plate appearances yet.

How about waiting until his success doesn't look like a fluke?

At the end of the day, he's still walking less than ever, and his K's are still rather high (although at least they're improving).

His #'s just look nice because of his .400 BABIP, which is completely unsustainable.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just leave Bonifacio where he is, and hope for the best. It's really nice that he's been valuable for this team the first month of the season, but he's still pretty much the same Emilio Bonifacio.

I thought I heard someone that batting order has a very minimal effect on ultimate runs scored.

This would only make sense if every player had the same amount of at bats per game. But obviously thats impossible.

My thinking of Infante sliding back to super-utility is all contingent on LoMo being healthy. I agree with the current starting 8 but am definitely becoming more open to Boni starting at 2B when LoMo is healthy.

Bonifacio/Dobbs will comeback to life at some point.

It's like how everyone loves to say: "imagine when Hanley starts hitting," or even "Infante hasn't done anything yet, either." Or "imagine if Stanton starts being more consistent" blah, blah, blah.

It kinda evens out. Bonifacio and Dobbs are overachieving, right now.

Ya, anyone thinking Boner can sustain this is overly optimistic.

I guess I just see the glass half full, IMO he looks a lot more confident at the plate and his hits have looked just as good as anyone elses.
