2011 Hurricane Season

Featured Replies

This didn't take long to get started. I went to the Baynews9 website and there is already an area being monitored that is off the east coast of Florida and quickly moving west. Probably won't amount to anything more than a good bit of rain today(much needed considering the 14 brush fires that are burning in Central Florida.)

Maybe we will get some hurricanes this year :confused .

We've been lucky the past two.

I wonder how school closings work in college. Last time for me was in 9th grade and I'm going into my third year of college now...

  • 1 month later...

I was always obsessed with NOAA hurricane tracker when I was younger (The years where we had huge hurricanes)

George, Wilma, Charlie.

Emily better get strong. and go towards Georgia.

Same with me. I was always obsessed with it, too lol. It's a lot of fun to check up on.

Hurricanes in general intrigue me. I love them (and of course hate them). Something very awesome about their wrath.

They are going crazy at work talking about what if it happens and then what we have to do to be prepared (move computers, cover equipment, etc.,), when to close. Of course I wasn't here when they had a direct hit from Hurricane Wilma and took the roof off of one wing and ruined everything inside nor the cleanup. But then I am/was here when we went in debt 1.2M BEYOND THE INSURANCE to repair and remodel. I have a nice office out of it (actually the biggest, lol)

They say the storm is supposed to turn NW sometime, but it doesn't look like it's happened yet. Most models put it going up the eastern coast , but a couple models actually have it going into the Gulf of Mexico. I'm keeping an eye on this one just in case.

i like hearing people not familiar with Hurricanes (especially when they're on vacation here) get flipped out about them. They've hit me so many times I can put shutters up blindfolded.

I will be up north, so I can miss the fun. Here's hoping it misses us, or at least the power's back on when I get back :-)

This better not ruin my holiday. In particular the Marlins game on Saturday night that I'm going to.

Unfortunately for you, this looks like an indefinite rain delay for Saturday.

You should either try to do Friday or Sunday...

I'm going tomorrow night (Thursday) aswell so hopefully that game is played. Imagine after 5+ years of staying up till 3am to watch the Marlins, when I finally come to Miami to see some games, they get rained off.....

They keep saying it will just miss the east coast of Florida but it looks like it's heading right for the gulf. Maybe it will turn at the last second but so far I'm not seeing it.

Oh? I'm going tomorrow night as well :lol

I wouldn't worry too much about tomorrow night. Don't forget, that was rained out in NYC tonight. We've had sporadic rain recently, but with enough of a window that they would still play the game despite rain.

Yeh I've been in Miami since last Friday and it's barely rained at all. We were expecting Orlando style thunderstorms every day in the late afternoon but there hasn't been any of that.

Hah, you arrived just ahead of the awful rain (from what my parents have told me). I actually just got back into Florida last night... I was in New York for the whole month.

Pay a visit to left field and find me :lol

edit: I lied, RF.

Orlando style thunderstorms? Never heard of such a thing. There's plenty of late afternoon thunderstorms down here.

Are there Scottish style thunderstorms where it rains alcohol instead of water? :p

On topic: I'm disappointed that Emily dissipated. I was looking forward to all the rain.

Yes, it's called a bath.....
