November 25, 200322 yr Joe Rose just interviewed Beinfest on the phone and he said "because of this deal the Marlins will now offer a 2004 contract to AJ Burnett". It's all about the money. We got what we got for Derrek and anything, considering the situation is better than nothing, which we would have gotten later on. The Marlins are going to keep their pitching staff together (with the exception of Redman I suspect)which is terrific news for us. Good job Admin! You da man !

But who is gonna be the one to leave for burnett I would say Redman even though i dont like the that the "experienced" pitcher of our staff would be gone. we also need a finesse pitcher, and redman would be the guy but IMO he would be the odd man out

November 26, 200322 yr i'd keep the entire staff together for now. there's no telling when AJ will be set to come back. when he does you don't know how he'll do, so for now i'd like them to keep the same rotation. work AJ into the bullpen, if everything's fine then trade a Redman maybe if you have to, or move someone to the pen.

Admin Beinfest said on tv tonight the Marlins WILL be offering a contract to AJ Burnett BECAUSE of this deal. It isn't maybe. It isn't possibly. They are.

I agree with that. AJ won't be in the rotation for the first few months. If he is fit sometime during the summer, we'll probably have a hole in the rotation to fill anyway. It's almost impossible to keep an entire 5 man rotation healthy and productive for an entire season. And if for some reason we find ourselves with a full rotation and AJ ready to join it, then we can make a move during the season; it's a good problem to have.
November 26, 200322 yr I will pray every night for him to stay. He is the real Ace of this team, and he hasnt gotten a chance to prove what he is all about. Watch out when he is fully healthy..... *Next Cy Young* Trust me.
