Burnett to be Offered 2004 Contract

Featured Replies

Joe Rose just interviewed Beinfest on the phone and he said "because of this deal the Marlins will now offer a 2004 contract to AJ Burnett".

It's all about the money. We got what we got for Derrek and anything, considering the situation is better than nothing, which we would have gotten later on.

The Marlins are going to keep their pitching staff together (with the exception of Redman I suspect)which is terrific news for us.

Good job Admin! You da man !

Do they intend on pitching a 6 man rotation? If not, then what do they do with the extra starter? But, I understand Burnett may not be in the roatation at first. But who is gonna be the one to leave for burnett

I would say Redman

even though i dont like the that the "experienced" pitcher of our staff would be gone.

we also need a finesse pitcher, and redman would be the guy

but IMO he would be the odd man out

And Jim Berry said that we are still negotiating with Pudge. :: shrug :: I trust Jim.

i'd keep the entire staff together for now.

there's no telling when AJ will be set to come back. when he does you don't know how he'll do, so for now i'd like them to keep the same rotation. work AJ into the bullpen, if everything's fine then trade a Redman maybe if you have to, or move someone to the pen.

I wouldn't trust Jim Berry on anything Marlins related if I were you. He is one the of the most two-faced sportscasters in Miami.

Woohoo hopefully this is true and he will be back in a Marlins Uni.

Let me repeat myself so there is no misunderstanding.

Admin Beinfest said on tv tonight the Marlins WILL be offering a contract to AJ Burnett BECAUSE of this deal.

It isn't maybe. It isn't possibly. They are.

did he rap it? i hate when he does that

seriously though, this is going to workout real nice. got rid of lee's contract and got someone who could develop into a good ballplayer at the same position and now we can try to resign AJ who everybody knows got some of the nastiest stuff in the game despite his injury.

did he rap it? i hate when he does that

ROFLMAO.... :lol :D :lol :D

man that's such good comedy when he does that, it's so bad i can't even muster the strength to pick up the phone & call the station to tell them how silly it is.

The one is who would bring us the greatest trade rewards while sacrificing the least amount of on and off-field production. :p

i'd keep the entire staff together for now.

I agree with that. AJ won't be in the rotation for the first few months. If he is fit sometime during the summer, we'll probably have a hole in the rotation to fill anyway. It's almost impossible to keep an entire 5 man rotation healthy and productive for an entire season. And if for some reason we find ourselves with a full rotation and AJ ready to join it, then we can make a move during the season; it's a good problem to have.

I will pray every night for him to stay.

He is the real Ace of this team, and he hasnt gotten a chance to prove what he is all about. Watch out when he is fully healthy.....
