July 24, 201114 yr http://marlinsbigcatch.com/2011-articles/july/marlins-send-chris-volstad-back-to-the-minors.html His numbers say it all, needed to be done.
July 24, 201114 yr I wouldn't call it "great" news. It means that a guy who the Marlins really need to step up has failed.

I agree that its not what I would call "great", as its definitely not positive that Volstad did fail, but I'm sure my other thread makes it pretty obvious that I thought that failure (at least for the time being) was already apparent and it's nice to see the team do something about it.
July 25, 201114 yr I think we had a big mistake at 2005 draft. We had a 5 picks at the 1st round, but all choice seems to fail, now. Just Missed : Ellsbury, Garza, Rasmus and Buchholz...
July 25, 201114 yr He's 24. He's had over a 5 ERA over the last 3 years (combined) and as the last couple games show, he's not close to getting better, he's gradually getting worse. I'm not sure what your point is. Jeremy Hermida was 25 when we had to give up on him, and he was a heck of a lot higher rated as a hitter than Volstad ever was as a pitcher. It's not as if Volstad is out there with a 97 MPH fastball or stuff so wicked that he just needs to learn how to harness it. He doesn't have outstanding stuff, and that, more than his age, is his reason for failing 3 years in a row.
July 26, 201114 yr That's great and all, but who do we have who can step in to replace him right now?
July 27, 201114 yr Does anybody know when he'll make his first start? Idon't know about you guys but I draw some parallels between him and Hermida...
July 28, 201114 yr Does anybody know when he'll make his first start? Idon't know about you guys but I draw some parallels between him and Hermida... That's probably fair in numbers alone. Volstad actually cares about the game of baseball. And for the most part, I like Volstad. He seems like a nice guy.
